Came out of a shop to discover this big ugly thing next to my (lowered) big ugly thing. Nice photo for comparison.

Did you say yours is lowered? Cos the stato still looks lower than yours for some reason!
I know which one I'd prefer though.........

Dunno about everyone else but i prefer the Statesmen in looks, but the AU 6 still has the balls and they are a very comfy car! If it come down to owning one it would be a hard decision between the to, but id probarly pic a Gen III Statesmen :

My '69 Dodge Phoenix .. big and ugly (and not lowered) Rod. |

If you draw a line over the roofs you'll see mine is lower and the AU has a much squarer C pillar shape.
Aww, Shockwave.....!! :( I had a ride in a Statesman of this vintage once and while it was a lot more quieter inside than my AU2, I still disliked it. I chatted with the chauffer driver about it and he disliked them because the cup holders don't fit a water bottle like mine. What a sick yank tank, Jav. Frighteningly wide. Reminds me of the film "Repo Man", although that was a Chevy i think.

Dauphin, i still like the AU Fairlanes, in particular yours with the 17s and would drive one as they certainly have the balls over the V6 Statesmen, but i just prefer the statesmens roundness... They are still tinboxes so dont be too concerned about what i said!
Just get some BA G220 centre caps for your wheels so theres no big holes in them! |

Yes, I will get them one day. Do you reckon they fit? They are definately a slightly different wheel design. (I would think that the centre hole is a standard size for all wheels.)

Definately not a fan of that series Statesman... the Grange on the other hand, just does something for me. Definately the AU over that Statesman...

VX, VY, the Gen3 was a beast but in VT2 it was pretty average in comparison.

I thought stateman's got sunroof standard... Sucks to be them.
I'd take a TL50 over a Grange. Fairlane's definately look nicer than Stateman's when done up.

Being a bit harsh on the AU Fairlane here, I think the AU Fairlance was the best looking AU design, followed by the Fairmont Ghia. Then again id prefer the WH/K/L statesman for the looks. But if were talking generally id prefer the AU motor, drivetrain, interor and suspension by far; seriously the AU was a much more sophisticated vehicle.

Me 1st!
Taking into account I own one of the ugliest cars ever, and a fairlane to boot! Geez mate you come up with some classics but I should not have expected more for someone who would consider that post to be acceptable to anyone older than 5. I have no idea what you where thinking the responses would be, or if you thought it was a joke, but its bloody pathetic and maybe these forums are not the place for you to be.

I'm all for the Wheezer, but the Gen3 has got everything over it. Sounds better, more aftermarket, more modern, the list goes on.
