Default London's ULEZ Tyranny and the Response

OK so mayor of London introduced a ULEZ (Ultra low emission zone) and then has extended it quite a way beyond the inner city...

Basically, get recorded by one of their special cameras, that's 12 quid to drive on the roads in certain naughty cars (older petrol and diesel) - about $25AUD - a day. On top of the rego you already paid. Not nice for pensioners, or normal people.

Happily, the people are livid at this and they are in forms of rebellion.

First, are the Blade Runners, regular people taking the law and kleptomania into their own hands:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldOHZZQpXgg

And secondly and more social and fun, are a group of dinosaurs, going Jurassic on the cameras:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whR41-GnVWk

Questions for you all - do we have this kind of AI predictive camera in Australia? What would you do if something like this was extended over your local area?

We've got lots of new camera's popping up in WA at the moment, from what I've been told they are part of this.
https://www.nhvr.gov.au/safety-accre...ra-enforcement

If they're using them on trucks I'm sure with a flick of a switch they could be applied to cars aswell. First it'll be rego's and unlicensed drivers, once people have blindly accepted that what'll be next?

Most of the new ones in WA are Number Plate Recognition cameras, part of Commissar Papalia's "Ring of Steel" brought in during the period known as the McGowan Republic when billionaire sponsors like Stokes and Twiggy could travel overseas and interstate but the plebs couldn't.

Believe it or not but most people in NSW think the Safety cams are only to monitor trucks.
Been already used as evidence in several drug running and one murder case.

As for the CBD in any big city, use public transport.

Yep. Good. All for getting rid of antisocial scumbags and other oxygen thieves.

I have no problem with video surveillance as I am not planning to go to China, buy a car which is connected to the internet, murder somebody or rob a bank.
As for the workplace, I spent 18 years in a job where we were on CCTV all the time. Never a problem with it, just part of the job, along with random drug and alcohol testing, with zero tolerance.
Anyone with a problem with that, has a bigger problem with themselves.

Very nice but some dodgy brief will get them back out onto the streets in no time.

I had a look into the camera companies and came across one that apparently used a predictive AI - to fill in the gaps behind the dashboard and work out what you were doing with your phone ("I wasn't playing with my phone, honest, I was playing with something else, please don't fine me!") - cannot recall if this is same as a ULEZ camera and the articles today don't mention this.

https://www.australiannationalreview...airnsnews-org/

this ULEZ type spotted in Oz. Will we rebel? I'd bet not. If you look at the history the French love a riot and the Brits are very capable of doing a Charles I or Guy Fawkes attempt; all we had was the Eureka Stockade which was put down in the night.

Will we rebel ? Nah. We couldn't give a rat's RS.
We have better things to do, even if it just to complain about how hot it is in summer.

I don't think it's a good thing, even if you don't have anything to hide.

The Overton window shifts and suddenly you're on the ****list even though you haven't changed your behaviour at all.

it's hardly a big surprise over there is it? London's been congestion and emissions charged for years now. So they've extended it to ULEZ, and increased the radius? so what? you'd rather choke on smog?

Aussie version. More silly as the driver is at risk.

Can't say I feel sympathy for the driver or Serco, I did get a good laugh out of the government turning around, washing their hands of it and paraphrasing section 21 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 though.

Quote:
Division 2—Main duties of employers

21 Duties of employers to employees

(1) An employer must, so far as is reasonably practicable, provide and maintain for employees of the employer a working environment that is safe and without risks to health.

Penalty: 1800 penalty units for a natural person;

9000 penalty units for a body corporate.

Using an environmental sacred cow to stop the tyranny on behalf of the environment. Clever.

Not really. The guy who did the murder is doing 22 years non-parole. Pheasants Nest camera was his undoing.
