If you had free reign on any past or present body shell and driveline from Ford Australia/America/Uk, what would you build?

Ford GT40 chassis under an X series hardtop would be mean. Rear engined, transaxle and all.
Or like a current Festiva with the biggest cubic inch Ford crate engine you can buy. Converted to rear wheel drive. |

GT40 with a Voodoo engine. Getting excited just thinking about that one.
Another one I was thinking about yesterday- Shelby AC(Not a Ford I know) with a boss 302 transam engine. That little car with one of those engines up front would be too much fun.

My choice - a Mark 1 Escort Mexico with an F310 - easily upgradeable power when needed and weighing around 1100kg - ummmmmmm
Cheers Vincenzo

Call me old fashioned, but for my money, I'd take a mk1 two door escort with a fire breathing 450hp cosworth bda and a straight cut gearbox.
Maybe an XW with a 427 side oiler? Not too far off what Bill Bourke had made for himself? |

Probably sound a bit boring, but i would go an original 67 XR GT shell with a stocker 4 barrel 289 motor with a mild cam a 6 speed auto, some decent brakes ☺,
electronic ignition , some nice 12 slotters, some medium riding suspension work, a nice twin system and some sound deadening and a push button radio , wind up windows, a bigger alternator some nice paint, and that would be my baby, a super easy retro and yet cool old school v8 that is super easy to do easy easy easy maintenance on and just cruise forever. |

Perhaps not the most adventurous but I would love to put together a 1956 F100 shell with a Boss 335 and an EL GT interior. In some small corner of my mind it's possible too which I guess is why I like the idea.
If it had to be purely Australian stuff I would go an EL GT with a T3 driveline - again do-able.

Easy...and one I very nearly did.
XC-update Fairmont GXL sedan, fitted with a new Falcon turbo six from, say, an XR6T, with six speed auto. I can imagine that beautiful old girl with modern running gear underneath it...and you wouldn't even have to do any performance work to the engine...I'm pretty sure the XC weighed a lot less than a modern Falcon sedan... I'd love the new GT350 flat plane 5.2 V8 and a 6 speed in my AU. High revving NA goodness.
