I saw that; truly cringeworthy and embarrassing.

They couldn't hold a candle to those from Yes Minister!

It was very hard to watch. I actually changed channels. I think the bloke obviously has good intentions but has clearly never been in front of a camera before.

Basically yeah. Plus Mike Willessee, an experienced journo, knew what buttons to press to make him squirm.

Ricky Muir - .

As long as he knows what to vote for when the time comes all is forgiven imo.

Yes I saw the interview. I actually felt sorry for him. It made me remember the first time I was interviewed in front of a camera when I became very nervous, almost like a panic attack. I couldn't get the presence of the camera out of my mind for some reason and found it difficult to concentrate on the questions.
He needs some media training.

At the time of the election I watched the counting of the Senate votes on line, extremely complicated when they have to take into account preference deals done between lots of small parties or in some cases no party at all.
SHY only just scraped in even though she would have done all sorts of deals with Labor and LNP.
Recently the major parties proposed some changes to the election process for the Senate to try to stop this happening again.
The big boys are s--t scared of having to deal with a lot of ordinary people not aligned to the big end of town or not part of a mainstream ideology.

Yep when you consider Abbott who is a career politician still stumbles when being interviewed. I think it just shows that he is just your average bloke put in the spot light and about to get an impressive pay rise for the next 6 years. Good luck to him.

Embarrassing, that is the only way to describe it.
Can't handle an interview what will happen come question time?
It's supposed to be the easiest job in the world right? Anyone can do it right?
He'll be remembered for a long time, just not sure for the right reasons.

Abbott's most recent effort of calling Canada "Canadia", in an interview. In Canada. Is proof of this.

To anyone railing on him, give him a chance. It's his first ******* interview on national television. I'm not a fan of the AMEP by any means, but having a go at Ricky for giving this a shot is just poor form.

Oh ok.

Maybe when's he's actually working and ******* up everyday, you'd have a point.
Until then, he's just doing publicity that he hasn't been trained for.

$200,000 x 6 years worth of prime A grade drop kick. How utterly pathetic is our voting system that allows Ricky to be elected with so few votes. A gift for puppeteer Clive Palmer.

Ricky makes the gumnutt twins look like brain surgeons!

Man - you obviously watched a different interview to the one I saw on TV last night.

Mate he was abysmal. The guy wouldn't know his anus from his elbow. He entered politics on a platform of supporting motorists and the motor industry and couldn't offer Willisee even a basic scrap of detail on either subject.

As Wretched pointed out, how the hell is he going to go at Question Time - mate they'll eat this clown alive!

I certainly hope that no one is pinning their hopes on this bloke to take up the plight of motorists in federal parliament. If those pollies were Land Cruisers then this bloke is a speed bump - half of them won't even slow down when they drive straight over him.

Russ.

It's not clives job to prepare Ricky. It's Keith's. And given his inability to run the party as it is, he's probably done ten fifths of bugger all to help his elected senator.

You can go through all the media training in the world and stuff up. You'll still be anxious on your first couple of rounds with the media - especially if you haven't done anything prior to national as is with the case of Ricky. And it still won't stop heavy editing of your interview
Judging him on his first shot is like telling the new person at work who's done years of uni they're useless because they didn't use company procedures to the letter on their first shot at a data sheet.
