Default AU XR8 and T-series brake MC differences

Hi Matt,

I have heard that the Master Cylinder in the AU T3-series is bigger than the standard XR8 - is this true?

The answer pretty much is a yes as the series 3 was the last of the AU's and went to the larger stepped bore master cylinder.
The PBR catalogue lists various size master cylinders for sedan, ute and wagons.
Sedans 6cyl and V8 along with wagons and utes from 09/98 to 04/00 pretty much all had 22.22mm/28.57mm stepped bores but some utes had the 23.81mm/31.75mm set ups.
AU sedans 6cyl and V8's and the wagon along with the ute from 04/00 to 09/02 have 25.40mm/31.75mm stepped bore m/cyls.

The BA then went to the 23.83mm/31.75mm stepped bore master cylinder.

I will also mention that i have seen some utes with sedan master cylinders on them. The larger bore master cylinders will give a firmer pedal if thats what your after but the smaller bore have moe pressure.
Just like a garden hose
Small nozzell - more pressure less volumne
No nozzell - Less pressure more volumne

Are you referring to the 2.5 as the crack point on the proportioning valve? We do not have those figures available to us and it doesn't tell me what bore size the master cylinder is.

Hi Matt, I spoke to brake guy over here, and the upgrade he is referring to is retro-fitting of the bigger B and F series GT MC, that does not come with prop valve nut. Have you heard of this being done?

No not sure on where that is going though as the AU3 master would and should be adequate. May i ask what car you have and what are you trying to achieve (save me some time)

Leave the AU2 master cylinder on the car after you fit the brake upgrade and just see how the pedal feels to you before you change anything.
