Default Chrysler 300C SRT, What happened?

From all the hype and the promising beginning this car had what happened to it? I don't think I've heard it mentioned anywhere in ages??

I realise they're on sale, and have been for a while.. but they don't seem to attract any media or forum attention?
Nobody ever seems to mention them as a competitor to HSV or FPV?

I agree Spoolman. Would be a great competitor to the Camaro as I cant see the Stang being sold here any time soon.

I've seen quite a few 300C SRT8s around, as well as a couple of the Jeep SRTs as well.

Maybe it's area specific but I see them regularly. like almost every day. More SRT's than any others almost no 5.7's either 6.1's or diesel. Thats the ultimate go hard or go home.

They have settled down into about the 100 sales per month mark but have suffered (to some extent) with some terrible ownership experiences at the dealer level - a story that should be not unfamiliar to a lot of us Ford enthusiasts.

the 300c was never going to work in australia lol
i dunno what their sales goals were but surely they must be going badly
Its obvious why, the car was made for americans not australians! great motor, terrible oversized body.. seeing them on the road they are the size of rolls royces, im sure they handle as bad as they look they would.

Therein lies the problem with assumption. They weigh no more than a BF GT-p and the handling characteristics are not dissimilar although the SRT has better turn in than the BF although not as much rear grip - hardly surprising given the wheel and tyre combo.

Calder lap times favour the SRT but only by a couple of seconds and more due to the extra power than better handling - and notably the VBox traces show the GT-p is the much better braking car under those conditions despite the bigger brake package on the SRT. Shows that quality brakes are better than bigger brakes.

Cheers
Russ

There are some decent sized Srt8 forums out there

Get you old man on the new Ford as he'll be impress.

The 300C your not getting you money worth. The style and power in these are fantastic but the luxury in the cabin is just not there at all!

disregard the weight, their physical dimensions are still too huge.. ive seen them parked at shopping centres and they hardly fit in the spaces, its not like our top sedans are not big enough already, the 300 is a lot wider and not very practical for suburbia and especially not for the city..

They started out as a fashion statement and sold fairly well, but now they are getting on a bit and no longer have that sort of appeal sales are dropping off quite considerably.

too look at I would have thought that they are only about the size of a Fairlane/Statesman. I would consider one if I was looking at buying another large V8 sedan. The wagon looks good too.

There is a 300C around the Narre Warren area (outer SE Melb) done up; lowered, bigger wheels, and a very loud exhaust. Sounds good but not meaty enough IMO.

Tut, tut. The value of research.

They are actually 154mm shorter than a Fairlane G8 and 194mm shorter than a Caprice.

They are, however, 20 mm wider than both.

Next try?

I have to disagree, the luxury appointments you get are not lacking in the Chrysler when comparing with the SWB G6E variant. Ford don't really have a competitor here.
