Default To offroad or not???...

Spotted this over the Easter long weekend and thought.......why????
There must be better handling cars around than a 3.0TD Patrol to put 24's on.
Tyres were 295/35x24.....hehe

I have to admit it looks "OK", but pretty impractical IMHO.

yep, i dont think those rims would enjoy some serious rock hopping!- should have lowered it- so people know he doesn't use it for its intended use.

It seems like they can't make up their mind mixing a massive bull (person) bar with bling wheels.

Its a brand new H3 hummer and the owner is on this forum as well .. Yes she did put 26inch rims under the car BUT she wanted it to stand out for her business , I would think that she succeeded .

and it goes very well for a 2+ ton car .

What a twit!!!

yeah lets by a 4WD and fit Low profile tyres and big shiny rims, clearly got lost on the way to the BMW Dealership cause that second gear stick in that Patrol once served a useful purpose.

got a pic somewhere of a D22 navara with 18" chromies and a canon...... made funnier by the non metallic blue paint, black steel bullbar and it being a diesel......

I don't care about the rims, but I wish they would take off the bullbar. Why on earth does he need a bullbar? No person who does any amount of long distance country driving would put those scrawny little doughnuts and those big ghey rims on their 4WD. And he sure as heck doesn't go off road or even dirt road driving!

Bullbars are a risk Vs benefit thing. If the benefit of saving your vehicle from likely animal strike outweighs the risk of not maiming a pedestrian in an accident or the diminished front impact occupant safety then by all means go for it. If not then you need to ask yourself why...

Wow, you're all so negative. Theres nothing wrong with the way shes modified it. Maybe she likes the way it looks? My mum saw the most POS riced up hyundai excel, with a crappy bodykit, massive spoiler, disgusting chrome 17s, and she said "I want my car to look like that".
Just prooves how odd peoples taste in cars is. If you don't like it, someone else does.

In genuine offroad use, I don't know what would be destroyed first........the tyres or the wheels. Seriously, they'd last 30 seconds in rocky terrain.

Even if he didn't take it heavily offroad, the tread pattern on the tyres looks like a road car, with narrow grooves that would fill up with mud or snow etc in an instant. They'd be like slicks on loose dirt, clay etc.

And as somebody has already pointed out, his choice of car for the said wheel/tyre combo beggars belief. A rubbish setup really.

everyone is so opinionated on here.
maybe they have a second set of tyres that they use to go up the beach or on a rocky track, just because they can afford some nice wheels doesnt mean they dont use the car for it intended purposes. take a chill pill

I have a mate who does speedway, he needs a tow vehicle for his Falcon Race Cars. Legally, a Falcon isn't up to it. A patrol his. He never intends to go four wheel driving, but he owns a GQ Patrol which he has lowered, to give better stability and fitted some nice road wheels to make it look a bit better. He hasn't gone as big as 24s, I think his are just 20s with a fair bit of rubber. Makes for a very strong, good looking tow vehicle that is perfectly legal.

But they're not nice at all. The whole black centre/silver outer only accentuates the gap between the wheel and the guards which is inevitable in a proper 4WD where there has to be a big gap to allow for adequate wheel travel. Just looks plain wrong.

make a nice rig for towing a large ski boat. nice bar on the front incase of stray kangas and would be nice and quiet at 100km/h and 4wd for dunking the thing into boat ramps.

perfect for the job.

There's nothing wrong with it.

I've met a lot of people who are against this and almost all of them are hypocritical.
They don't mind it with a new ute is done up but when it's a 4WD they .

The funny thing is.....he towed a Seadoo with it
I regularly dunk my skiboat down ramps with my RWD Terri, AWD not required yet.
BTW, his mate had a new T/D Navara with 20's in chrome on it. Didn't look quite so silly so I didn't bother with a photo.
