Well, I'd read an article claiming that there was a "rumour" of BRITEK's withdrawing their Fiesta S2000 Rally cars in the 2008 Australian Rally Championship. It's been confirmed.
Check out the story on www.rally.com.au Eddie.

I read this about a week ago and am very shocked. I just remember listening to it roar through the trees at Rally of Canberra. It was definitley the hottest 2.0L Cyl ive ever heard. They were such great cars though did have their fair share of bad luck.
I read somewhere that the S2000 Fiesta will be copied to make a prescens on an international level.

Yeah, you're right Damo. They sounded FANTASTIC! I was looking through some rallying vids on their Focus and Fiesta's on YouTube from Canberra and Melbourne and I'm sure that you can hear Zetec "Whoo Hoo'ing" in the background. I do recall us being in the vicinity at the time. I'm sure it's Zetec.
Let's hope that the cars are sold and run here in the future. Or maybe someone else overseas can develop them into race winning cars? Who knows. And what's going to happen to poor old Michael Guest? Incidentally I did see him on a fishing program a few weeks ago and I believe it's one of his passions.

Sean, Rocks Schmocks! you should have seen my Focus after a weekend in the Canberra Forests!
But a Post Script to the story. I dug out an article that a month or so old with the heading PIRTEK 'Secure' where it's "quoted" that they have full backing for 2008. Also, in the Herald yesterday in "The Inside Line" the article confirms that BRITEK are selling both their Fiesta S2000 cars and won't be competing in 2008. Group Buy Anybody???

Britek sent out a press release a week or so ago annoucing their intentions to withdraw, the cars are for sale, and the drivers have been released from their contracts effective immediately.
Also, in enews this week CAMS has repsonded by saying they hope a privateer buys them to continue.

There has been a blood letting going on inside Australian rallying.
CAMS competitor, AASA have stepped into grass roots rallying this year for the first time and all shyte is breaking loose, there is quite a thread going on about it over one 10-10ths. Not sure if AASA's appearance in rallying is the biggest issue, or whether they were in self destruct mode anyway, all I know is that Ed Ordynski is working with the AASA camp.

Yeah I new something was going on with Rallying, Big Trev. I hope someone will get it sorted because I love MOST forms of motorsport and this includes rally. I've enjoyed going to the small number of Rallies I've attended so far. Actually, I have started to think about going over to N.Z. for the W.R.C. Rally of New Zealand.
