Those early adopters of the SA series Focus in 2018/19 will have their warranties expire within the next 12 or so months.
Where have owners of these early SA series vehicles thought of getting their vehicles serviced when the warranty expires? Continue at their Ford dealership, a local mechanic, or an independent Ford Europe specialist? I'm in the northern suburbs of Melbourne and am interested in any Melbourne owners opinions. Thx. |

I've traded my 2019 Active in for a Mazda CX-30. Shame, because, Ford have nothing that really grabs me. Would have loved a Focus station wagon in Active trim, and neither the (s)Puma, or Escape can match the CX-30. If I were 20 years younger, I would definitely have gone for a Ranger, but these behemoths are becoming a road hazard. Their time will come. They make no sense in any city and will make less sense at the pump.

Really?
I have had an Escape twice as a loan car. In what area s does the 2 litre Cx 30 surpass Escape? Acceleration? Handling? Tech? |

Good question. I've owned cars since 2015 and done all the servicing myself and this is the first car I've actually had the dealer service it since it has warranty.
I'll be moving out west from the north so if anyone can recommend in the west, keen to hear.

I couldn't answer that. I have a 2.5L Mazda CX-30 Astina so don't know about the 2.0L version. Not knocking the Escape, but I'm confident the CX-30 will blow it away in the tech department and would be pretty comparable in the handling department, and the power from the non-turbo engine is quite good, even if it doesn't quite match the Escape. Although older, CX-30 styling and interior is still far superior to the Escape, which, I have trouble remembering what it looks like because I hardly see any on the roads.

I have had my SA four years now, and no dramas at all mechanically.
The only annoyances have been minor cosmetics things: 1. The textured finish wearing off on the centre console, presumably as I've put down/removed my mobile from the little holder under the dash. 2. The skin/film bubbling around the buttons on the steering wheel, which might be due to hand sanitiser or something reacting with it (just imagining what the dealer would say), although they are not in spots I would touch all that much, to be honest, nor do I rest my fingers there. 3. A similar peeling/roughening of the leading edge of the button that powers the driver's window. 4. Some peeling of the clear-coat on the top of one of the headlights. Not sure I'm entirely to blame for that one, as it's usually waxed, but maybe that's contributed by trapping heat in? Petty to even ask, perhaps, but I'm assuming the above would be considered "wear and tear" rather than potential warranty issues?

Yeah, wear and tear. None of those are occurring on mine.
On the upside got my first map update since it left the factory.

What version is the map update? I think mine has not changed for at least the last 2 visits to the dealer (Dec 22 and Dec 23).

I was on ANZ 19 something before which I assume was 2019 maps.
It’s now ANZ 2 22. Although I did hear that Ford released a new map for Australia this months or it will be next with 23 in the map code. They might release a new version of Sync to coincide but pretty much Ford has ceased development for the platform las they are focusing on Sync 4 and Sync 5. Any updates to Sync 3.4 will be bug fix, expect no new features. I guess if it ain’t broke at this point don’t fix it, I’m fine with that. Edit; first two dealers didn’t update the map when they are supposed to but the 3rd one I went to I asked specifically and they said you don’t need to ask, we do it. So goes to show not all dealers are the same.

This is the exact issue I have. I've sent you a PM, would you be willing to advise which dealer updated the maps for you? TIA.
