Don't like to see any collectable car damaged. That was a pretty big hit - lucky no bad injuries. Be interesting to find out how it happened.

VL Walkinshaws are like GT Falcons - 750 made, and 3000 on the street now.
Looking at the white venetian blinds & white-band tyres, I'm not convinced it's a genuine one. But it would still cost $40K to build a good replica. |

That's a big hit, ouch.
No doubt there will be dash cam somewhere.

Nothing on youtube yet that I could see.
I'd say someone ripped a decent static skid and fogged the place out .... with no visibility ... and coming onto the main straight. Something was bound to happen.

From what I’ve read, seems the commonwhore slowed down/stoped cause a car in front was doing a power skid and the guy in the XR couldn’t see through the smoke. All people are ok just the usual seat belt injuries.
This from a back seat passenger of the commonwhore.

So sad that two cars were taken out in such an unfortunate circumstance,
I hope both had insurance and get repaired and back on the road. |

Insurance won’t cover you on a race track. It’s the risk you take

power cruise where no one is competing, then there may be a case that this was a simple traffic accident on private property. Definitly a case for a solicitor to review insurance contracts, maybe the likes of Shannons excludes / includes power cruises and parade laps? but yes, drag and road race competitions excluded for sure... |

That XR is a definite right off, look at the crease in the roof.
I would surmise that the XR driver will be held responsible for the commodore, as they did not stop and thus ran into the rear of the car in front. mmmmm shame it had to happen. |

Real shame to see peoples pride and joy damaged like that but its not the first time, we had a Torana roll over in Perth a couple of years back and it probably won't be the last.
The organisers need to pay attention to this, you do a token driver briefing that consists of a video of do's and don'ts then forget it all and go stupid on the track. If you're pulled up you lose your band and have to sit down a watch the video again. From what I've seen you have to have a lose to get pulled up, anything else is game on. It seemed like a good day out on the track to me but driving blind with your sphincter puckered through clouds of tyre smoke soon wore thin. I much prefer a sanctioned tuning day with the grown ups.

Powercruise is like that sadly. Little respect for cars there .
Last I went to in Brisbane @ Q.R was years ago I vowed never to bother going back. Within the first hour or two was a pink LJ Torana and a Black V8 Hilux rolled and wrecked :( The cause was just stupidity . Cars now have way more power than a lot of guys or girls can handle . Ok while they are going good but can go wrong so fast :( |

Such a shame, both cars have made it this far, 30 plus years, only to be written off on one of the few days of the year they probably even get driven these days.

Yes you can, what does that cover exactly. 98% of insurance company’s cover their own backs in the fine print. Unless you’ve got the money to throw around, Ill bet a dollar to a pound that no one here has ever paid for and claimed through their everyday insurance company and won a case.

No-one here will be covered by insurance unless they had specific cover for the day, nor will anyone be able to claim from anyone else. It's a case of tow your own wreck home and fix it at your cost.

Your best bet would be small claims and a real good mouth piece. Still won’t stop me from having some fun

Understand not all at Powercruise would "get it", but hopefully some lessons learnt in a "safer" environment than potentially on the streets, where getting wild could have much greater consequences.
