It never ceases to amaze me the level some elements of society will stoop to.
Without fail, every time there is a disaster, natural or otherwise, with many people forced into desperate situations, you always read of this other element that go around 'looting', which is just another word for stealing. I will never understand what goes through someones mind to think that they can just help themselves to someone else's property, at any time, let alone in these highly emotional situations like we are currently witnessing again in QLD and northern NSW. Of course some is just petty theft, with people raiding shops for supplies etc, and while you can understand these situations, that is still someone else's stock and livelihood you are stealing from. With everything these families are dealing with, this behaviour is just the lowest of the low. Thankfully, these natural disasters also often bring out the very best in many people, which does tend to restore faith in the human race. |

I don't believe it happened in Japan after the 2011 quake/tsunami. But hey they have a lot more pride than us.
Looters should be shot on the spot along with any do gooder defending them. |

Don't know why the big hoo haa about looters, there is no honour among thieves!
The low life's just prey on society all the time, these tragedies just brings them out in the limelight. |

Maybe concerned citizens trying to lift the eletronic goods to higher levels.
But on serious note, not a fan of looters. If the world turns to **** and apocalypse and all that stuff then yeh go ahead and get supplies and kill the zombies but otherwise just wrong.

In Bundaberg after the floods some years back, one memorable case was on the local news showing the flooded north Bundy streets, and someone going past behind the reporter, driving a tinny through the water loaded with gear. Someone happened to be staying at a freinds place out of the flood and said "That's my boat!!"...
The guy was caught later, but scumbags will get flushed out when flood waters rise... The commonest thing said in Bundy at the time was "Hey, the army is here patrolling and helping keep order...just shoot the looters and be done with it"... Can't really think of a reason why not... |
