The C200 is $61K + on roads, not $50k.

And yes, for that money I'd take a C200 over an Amarok Highline any day of the week. I have absolutely no need for a dual cab ute, top of the line or otherwise. In fact, $75K is approaching C250 money which makes the Merc an even more interesting proposition.

Is there any details on whether the Merc will be AWD?
It's the think I like most about my Amarok and I was thinking of buying a new V6.

If it keeps the Navara underpinnings it will be RWD with electronically selectable 4WD.

Also, Renault (part owner of Nissan) will likely release a dualcab ute based on the Navara well before the Merc appears.

"We have the V6, two four-cylinder engines – diesel and gasoline – and then we have 4ื4 and we have 4ื2. That is it as, far as powertrains are concerned,” he said. “And then we have manual and two different automatics going with the different engines.”

So, yes..if that's what you want.

Ah Deja Vu, Australia went down the badge engineering path 30 plus years ago and now the local industry is all but gone.
