Hi all.
Had an issue with my zf 6 speed on my xr6t that identified the requirement for a rebuild. So i brought a full 6 speed manual conversion, diff and all. Found in the end that my zf problem was a bad wire connection causing voltage drop. Fixed wiring and zf held up to multiple 400rwkw dyno runs... So now i have a 6 speed manual conversion sitting in my shed ready to go... Do i sell or do i convert? I prefer manual, but i still need to buy a clutch setup capable of the power. Prob about a $1500 exercise. how much do you think i could sell a full 6 speed zf conversion for, pedal box, diff, the lot. . is a BF xr6t if that makes a difference. .. Cheers.

20 years ago I wouldn't have foreseen saying this, but post ZF autos are usually faster, easier to drive, and quieter. So the only real reason I'd be tempted to get a manual car is (a) a new small car, eg. Hyundai that needed every last bit of power to get around, or (b) buying a new large car and couldn't scrape together the extra $2000 for the auto :-)

Would the conversion also need some sort of engineers certificate and compliance sticker?
I would have suggested selling your car and just buying a manual but it sounds like you have done some mods.

putting aside which one is better there is a couple of other questions i would be asking myself first
is it a daily driver do you do any towing the daily commute is it slow ,heavy, stop, start if you have a partner can they drive a manual manuals might be fun but if the answer is yes to any of the above the smile can soon disappear but in the end its your decision |
