If indeed it is a GT cap, or is it a GS.
I've searched a few GT parts web sites and ebay but nothing that identifies exactly what model.

That's not a pic of the one I've got, mine has been painted black at some stage.
I picked it up somewhere, cant remember where at least 25 years ago and it's been kicking around in my spare parts bin. My brother has just scored an XY GS ute with a POS cheap chrome one, and I though mine would finish it off better when he finished fixing it up. But if it's not genuine then wont bother.

Yeah the xy gs just came with a painted body colour cap, as far as I know all locking caps were after market. If you google xy gt images you will see what a gt cap looks like. Xr/xt gt's only had a normal non locking cap std. My guess is you could by a locking cap from the ford dealer packaged as a motorcraft item.

Hey check out the green xc wagon for sale in the sale section on this site, it has a pick of the locking cap I was talking about and the orig cap and motorcraft box sitting on the tailgate. Cheers.
