I thought initial setup you had to plug it with the cable to the computer and then run a web page and set something.
I recall I had a few issues when I set mine up as a temp solution, but can't recall the problems.

with my new modem (telstra) I had to go to the address of the modem.....in there you have to place your log in details and basically set it up.

But the wifi won't connect and connect with USB cable can't get into address or when you try it comes up as a different modem router maybe it's because you might be connected to the homes router already by wifi and that might be what the web page goes into

Pretty sure had this issue with the mother in laws one.
I think we did a master reset on the thing and it fixed it. But I also remember that she had one that was stuffed but I think that was DOA.

Will see if the setup instructions are about and have a look

I would suggest turning all other Wi-Fi networks off if you have not done so.
Turn the modem off and keep off for about 30 seconds. Then try and connect to the modem using the laptop. Most problems I have had in the past Wi-Fi is that, I have had to restart each device to connect. Took me an hour and a half to try this after I set up a Wi-Fi network once. Just a simple reset. |

I use one for work. Got it a few years ago. From what i remember i just had to activate the sim, whack the sim in, turn it on and connect, then reset the password. The address of the web interface is http://192.168.0.1 default credentials being admin admin. When your modem says connected it just means its talking with the tower.
