GM pulled out in 2009 with the Kodiak/TopKick, Dodge hasn't offered anything for years, though if it does again, it will be Ram next time.

The segment is Class 6-7 Medium Duty, which also include:

International TerraStar, DuraStar
Isuzu N-Series
Freightliner M2
Kenworth T-270/370

Though these don't all offer 4x4, crew cabs, or a petrol engine, F750 doesn't offer a 9L diesel, or a diesel hybrid (yet). I also believe Ford will no longer offer a manual gearbox. So there are differences, though the capability is similar. But I actually agree with you that is has a niche because it puts the pickup truck functionality, comfort, and ergonomics in a medium duty truck.

Toyota, Honda and Nissan are, Dodge and Chevy have 1500/2500/3500 which competes against F150/F250/F350 lineup.

I don't think I have seen one used as a toy (yes I know there are pics on the Internet, but they don't make up the sales of these things). I'd say mostly for business use with a small percentage for pulling for recreation (5th wheel horse trailers and RVs). In my opinion, it's too commercial looking to be used as a status symbol. If you want to achieve that goal, you'd be better of with an F-150 Raptor, because that turns heads.

5th wheel horse trailers and RVs are mostly custom motor bodies here.
and we use 5 -7 tonne Jap trucks for the smaller work.
To me the small articulated vehicle are a thing of the past, but I guess the US market still demands them,
and how much is Propane over there?

We did the Ford Rouge and factory tour Detriot in October last year the only thing produced there now is F150 trucks both 4 and 2 door they had a quiet year only produced 700000 units More tham our entire local manufacturing sector but @ $24.500 on the road entry price and fuel a third of the price of ours why wouldnt you have one

A little bit cheaper than unleaded, but not as substantial as it is in Australia. I want to say something like 2.75, but it has been a while since I have looked. Unleaded is 3.19 and diesel is about 3.89 right now. i think 5th wheels will always be in demand here because a lot of trailers have been and continue to be built that way. They can tow more with a 5th wheel hitch than conventional, you reduce your overall length, it's more stable, and balanced, and better maneuverability. The only reason I stick with conventional is the trailers are cheaper and I can pull an RV with my Polaris in the bed of the pickup. Or I would have to get a toy hauler like this http://voltagehaulers.com
Those aren't cheap or good for the types of camping spots I like to go. I would, however, get a 5th wheel horse trailer. So I guess I like having both options.

No matter how often they change the super-duty/heavy-duty F-Series, from the A-pillar back it still is exactly the same as the 1999 model. The doors/roof/rear bed (on the pickups) and tail-lights have not changed in 15+ years. They really need to get around to finally doing a *complete* revamp instead of just grafting a new nose on it every few years. Maybe that's why the guy a few posts up didn't see any in Las Vegas - private customers over there are wise to the fact that it's so old, whereas fleets don't care.

Gees the International Terrastar is one very ugly duckling!

Even though the rear ends are basically still the same on the Fords after all these years I still think they will sell in good numbers.

The F750 won't tow vans as it it will be overkill, they are actually a medium size work truck targeted for business use.

Well ye so much overkill as a twin cab with ute body but then again i can still see a use for that type of truck 'IF' you could actually afford it ?

Yeah I am an Aussie (well born in the UK), lived in the US for the last 6 years. It will be interesting to see where diesel hybrid trucks go. At the moment they tend to all be parallel hybrids. I'd love to see a series diesel electric (like in a locomotive) applied to these trucks. I'm pretty sure Hino offers its trucks in the US, they just have a much smaller market share.
