Find a way to fit Falcon panels onto a donor rwd chassis, or adapt non-falcon parts (maybe mustang) to fit a falcon body so it's serviceable..

I'll hang onto my 2002 AU3 V8 ute for as long as I can and ensure I have enough spares to last for many years to come.

Mine's staying with me, and I'm sure I'll pick up many others in future. As for future cars newer than the years the Falcon and Commodore are to leave, I don't know what there's going to be around by then, so how can I choose?

In the future when a conversation starts about some piece of Euro trash or cheap Chinese knock off wearing out at 100,000 klms I'll say, " well, we used to make cars in this country that were good for 500,000 klms but people only wanted rice rockets so the manufacturers went out of business".

I am approaching 150,000km in my Focus (without a hitch *knock on wood*), I better quickly sell it in case it falls apart. Like you said after 100,000km they wear out

Saved up and waiting to buy a His and Hers GT's in 2016 and will keep them forever along with my current fleet to be used as daily drives. I'm safe for at least 1 million kms or 30 years.
The only car that would get my attention is the Mustang but with the thought of kids in the future, that rules it out.

Rodge probably puts me in the 'happy go lucky, whatever the future holds' category. But I'd like to think I'm more of a wait and see, then sus out all the options when I'm there. No point worrying about what car I might not be driving in 5 years, hell for all I know my number might be up by then!
Losing the Falcadore as a car isn't a huge loss to me, it's more the impact it will have on those working in the industry that I'm concerned about. If it means I buy a ho hum daily, maybe I'll buy a ball tearer weekender or just stick to bikes. Remember a car built today isn't going to become a collectors item for 30-40 years until those kids grow old enough to want what they loved as a kid.

Well I'm still driving my 1995 XR6 Wagon with 446,000 kms on the clock - after Falcon and Commodore are gone, I'll probably still be driving my 1995 XR6 wagon but with something like 600,000 kms on it
But seriously, if I was forced to finally get rid of the wagon I'd most probably end up with a second hand last of the model run Falcon XR6 or a manual Mondeo wagon.

As stated before the F6's a keeper!
Current daily is EVO X, a great car I might add! But alas it will be going... So thinking the last G6E Turbo, or a GT, after that the 4WD Turbo Ford from the US. No Euro stuff for me, the premium price, service costs and re-sale value rules them out for me... And yes, I know the re-sale value is better than the Jap/Aussie stuff.. If all else fails then I would consider a Lexus 250/350... Flame suit on!

I'm keeping my XR50 for many years to come. I'm retired now, so the kms aren't being clocked up like they used to be.

if there is no Aus made falcon, then, for a family sedan, I will look to a rwd/awd sedan, not a toyota, not gm.
Strangely enough I now know the utility of an SUV. So I may not be looking for a family sedan - this is hard for me to swallow. I will likely be looking for the following pair 1) SUV, not gm, not Toyota. Probably Diesel. not big off road requirement, good space, good towing (Tez or ranger based SUV will need to compete with Jap/Kor/Eur for my money) 2) mustang ecoboost 4 or 6 |
