Thumbs up Landing a job with V8 Supercars

G'day guys I'm tradie seeking a career change while I'm still early 20's and able to do so. Just after any information at all someone can point me towards to gain qualifications/ or info on tafe courses I can study to land a corporate job later on

Anything from of event management (eg. Being in charge of road closures for street tracks/ safety barrier placement etc) to being data entry for a team. Or maybe something to do with the main sponsors that drive the team

It's always been on my mind to get into it and make a career out of my passion. I have no contacts whatsoever and not sure of the best way to put a foot in

Any info at all would be so much appreciated

Also call...so many just fire off emails and Im sure 95% go straight to the trash.

Send an email with your CV, then follow up with a call a couple of days later regardless if they replied or not.

Corporate jobs usually require a degree these days. Enrol in an OUA course or similar. Obviously a degree relating to this particular field would be best, but I think just having a degree in any field shows that you are a willing and capable learner.
Getting your name and face amongst it is also a good idea. Start up a personal project that may get you involved in the scene, if that is successful they would look favourably upon you. As Polyal stated, ring or show up in person, a lot of emails requesting work will get ignored unless they are looking for someone.

Good luck - go for it 100% and plus some. Don't be pushy, but don't be slack to put yourself forward. Sometimes wish I went for mechanics as a lad. I've fixed buggerups that mechanics have sent out of the shop.

Have you thought about getting involved in CAMS. You can start as an official & this will give you an idea on how motorsport works behind the scenes. This will be only volunteer work t o begin with. But you wont have to give up your day job & you can find out a bit about what you are in for & its all free.

CAMS then has a structure that will allow you to get further training to participate in larger events with greater responsibility. You will also be rubbing shoulders with some people that have been in the game a while & this may help you go on to other things.

For more info check out this website - http://www.cams.com.au/get-involved/...re-and-pathway

Tafe is also doing courses in Motorsport, so that a be of interest.
