Default Subwoofer in BA Premium Pack

G'day Fellas,

Just wondering if there are any better quality 8 inch subs around for my BA. The rest of the system is good enough for me, but the sub just doesn't keep up with the power being fed to it - it distorts easily.

I've also noticed that it doesn't respond to low level bass. Maybe thats to do with the head unit not sending bass below a certain frequency??? I don't know!

Any ideas on a fix???

Thanks

Matt

I have replaced the rear speakers and sub with an "Alpine" set up, the speakers that ford have put in are very low quallity panasonic speakers with paper cone's and thin speaker wire!!! as well as having inverted suspention.
The 4 main speakers are only 5 x 7's and 60mm deep and the sub is 8" dia, and trying to get speakers to fit in the front doors are a pain as it's a very tight fit as the gap between the speaker magnet and window mechanism is ony 3 mm so you can only go 60mm deep, and for that you have to go down to a 5" dia split speaker

I just had a look at the Alpine website it doesn't appear to have any 8" subs. Did you end up replacing the sub?

Yep, the sub is an Alpine 8"; the Alpine speakers all have titanium cones.
1. Alpine sub 8" @ 400 watt's, $149.00, part no# SWS0840.
2. Alpine 5X7" split's @ 200 watt's, $260.00, part no# SPS571A.
I didn't replace the wiring as the whole system would need to have been re done, as it is the rear view mirror shakes when the volume is above 14/30. And the sound is crystal clear, as we have the splits in the rear with the tweeters facing in at 45o.

Where did you get the speakers from?

If I recall correctly you have a spare brand new set lying around that wouldn't fit in the front? Perhaps talk to Citric XR6 about selling them to him. They fit in the back perfectly, but the bloody windows get in the way in the front doors. Just a thought.
