Default Insurance - XE Falcon V8

Gday,

Well I may be purchasing a 1982 Ford XE Falcon 351c soon, and I was looking into insurance and found that because of my age, it is hard to find anyone. I am almost 24 now.

So does anyone know who may insure me for this car, without charging me ridiculous amounts, etc???

Thanks for any help!

I tried Justcars online quote, no go! So i plan on ringing them tomorrow.
I think a reasonable amount is anything less than $800 really. It is not worth a lot of money so why i would be paying more than id pay for a BA Falcon is beyond me!

If you are not too worried about what its worth, then get third party property insurance, it will cover the other person if your at fault, Only thing to remember is you have to be prepared to lose your car and its value.
(which if is not a lot may just be worth while if you consider at 24 you would still have age excess as well)

I just had a look at redbook.com.au
http://www.redbookasiapacific.com/au...s.php?id=60569

Between $1500-$3500

Ok lets say you have an accident, a car of that value will not be hard to write off. it would not have to be a very big lot of damage for that to happen. Maybe a front bumper and grille.
So lets say your at fault; you need to pay your excess (standard excess is usually about $500, then you said your 24 so your age Excess is between $600-$1500 depending on the insurer) even at the lesser amount that is $1100- Now obviosly I have not seen this car but for a car of that age to be at the top market value would have to have a full service history with log books to prove it has NEVER missed a service, not have a single dent or scratch in it prior to the accident, duco would have to be outstanding, and low klms, so not too many will be at the top value..most would be at the lower end which in this case is $1500....so after your excess your payout would be in the vicinty of $400, now put that against the saving you would make by having third party property insurance as opposed to the cost of comprehensive.

Yeah that sounds like good advice.

But if i were to have an accident with third party insurance:
Does it cover their car?
Does it cover their injuries?
Does it cover my injuries?

Third Party Insurance will cover their car, Compulsory Third Party that you pay with your rego (Compulsory) will cover personal injuries

Third Party Property damage covers thier car

Cumpulsory Third Party Insurance (paid with rego) covers thier injuries

as for your injuries CTP usually does not cover the driver (under legistlation for what it MUST cover), but then again Third party property or Comprehensive don't cover your injuries either.
Most CTP have additional coverage for drivers for very specific circumstances only if the driver is over 25. Like loss of a limb, or eye.
