Well after missing last years show I managed to get down to this one, not long after finishing night shift, my excuss for bad photo's! LOL, anyway for those who think Orange has not got much of a car seen, think again, some really top cars came out of the wood work for this one!
This was paked in the car park on the way in. I know it's a Holden but it is a special one! International Delivery, had the kids car seats in the back!! Jag Special, one of six in Australia This is a 1908 MAB, it is powered by a 27LTR V12 'Liberty' Aero Engine producing 400 Brake Horsepower and 1000ft.lbs. of torque, weighs 380KG and gets around 9 M.P.G! The car crusies comfortably at 80MPH and can reach 100MPH. It has two of these massive drive chains to get the power down!

Lovely pictures and a fantastic variety of old/new, Aussie/Brit/Seppo metal....something for everyone and a really good turnout for Orange!
I used to go to Orange every 4 weeks in my last job- I have to say I actually miss it!

That Liberty V12 is such a dinosaur, it uses ancient technology like OHC :

I have seen "ESCORT" actually on the M7 ... it's a very clean unit indeed.
I know what the car scene is like in Orange ... used be out there a fair bit ... also had mates that lived out there as well. There was always a decent turnout during the evenings in town ... and some really nice cars as well.

Yeah was an awesome show. I was rather surprised by some of the rides there. Main street was hectic that afternoon lol, cops and cars everywhere hahaha

Thanks guys, was a really good turn out for the show, about 200+ cars, there where some really nice ones that I missed, they had gone out for a lap around the track. I would have liked to have mine on display but with working night shift I had no time to get her ready!

Thanks for a great selection of high quality photos. Loved the Boss and that Pontiac. I wasn't aware the Gnoo Blas circuit still existed. I remember going there and watching "humpy" Holdens racing and one meeting where this new guy named Ron Hodson turned up in a Zephyr and drove like a maniac with lots of offs and David Mackay in his first 3.4 Jag. |

Gnoo Blas circuit is now part of the public roads of Orange.
I took a lap around it late last year. Would have been quite frightening flying down hospital straight at 120+mph.

Armageddon, was that show at Jack Brabham Park? I spent the best 3 years of my life when I lived in Orange but I had no idea of these beasts hiding in sheds in the area? PS. Have started on the new Bloomfield hospital yet?

Yeah it was, after living here for only 12 months I too can say the same, I had never seen or heard of a lot of these cars, very suprising! They are just starting, have redone the road out the front, near the old entry, and they just started to pull the tree's out around the old buildings out the front today!

good set of pics , nice variety of cars.
myself and a bunch of mates used to visit Orange every month to drag race at Gnoo Blas raceway in the early-mid `90s. as said it is really just normall roads on the edge of town . the drags were held on the old main straight and had a short section of hotmix at the start line. it wasnt the most up to date track in aust but we had a great time and there were always a good roll up of cars from around the state. made some good friends that i still keep in touch with now.
