Arrow Anyone here into powerlifting?

Went in my first powerlifting comp on the weekend and really enjoyed it. I'm going in the National Deadlift Comp in December and am hoping to win the NT division.
Anyone else here compete or thinking about it?

Mate of mine used to do it. He has since switched to bodybuilding.
What is your weight and stats for everything?
Good luck with your comp and keep us posted.

Thanks mate.
In the comp i weighed 85.6kg and my lifts (all done raw) were:
Squat - 155kg
Bench - 125kg
Deadlift - 252.5kg

I'm hoping to hit a 265kg deadlift @ 84kg at the National Deadlift Comp.

Bloody good numbers there mate.
Well done and good luck with the deads in December.
My knees (and my age) stop me from getting into a good dead position so I use Romanian deads and get a good feel from those. But my weights are no where near your numbers.
How old are you and how tall? How long training etc.

Cheers. I'm 25 and just under 6' tall. Been training about 3 years now (mostly for bodybuilding but).
Sucks about your knees, once they go you're pretty much finished on heavy deads and especially squats.

Here's a vid of my 240kg deadlift from the comp: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2utwsCET6Dc

I have a video of the 252.5kg but it only shows the lockout.

You did make that look easy, but I was concerned that you looked like you rounded your back during the lift. It's a crap load of weight and I may be wrong but you can't get deads too wrong or you bugger things up for life.

Forgetting that though... bloody great lift!!! :

Yeah that's just my style mate (especially as the weight gets heavier). It's not ideal textbook form but i've been pulling that way for years with no injuries.
Thanks for the comments.
