It was like here in nsw. They put silly things like Turbo Diesel Patrols, even landrover Defender 110s they couldnt even get to 100kph in under 30secs.

This was only for P platers. But I think it has been fixed up now. My vote is they need more motorsport type complexs even the govt in qld is not happy about the one wanting to go in 1/2 way between GC and Brisbane.

My problem with the whole thing is these govt type people think they are god and everyone else is stupid.

90/10 rule 90pc of the people are ok 10pc cause the problems.

Sif they need another track down that way anyway.

They could build it between the Sunny Coast and Brisbane, we got nothing until Ipswich.

No they don't. Turbos and superchargers are allowed on Diesel vehicles and smart cars and suzuki capacinos are exempt too.

It is called Lakeside. It is a really fun although tight and unforgiving.

What they REALLY need in one that is further away from Brisbane. Somewhere north of sunnycoast that can attract competitors and watchers from other areas.
QR is a major pain in the bum. The only way to get there is to cross the city of go about a bazillion kms out of your way via the Bris Valley or Gateway.

I was looking on Queensland Transports website and it says
-high-powered vehicle restrictions for provisional drivers under 25, so i read that as if you have an Open license you can drive what you want.

And if anywhere needs a race circuit, its north queensland, there are none up here!!! you boys in Brisbane and surrounds should be glad you have one!

So, what are the general regs for aftermarket turbos now? Do you need an engineer's cert? does the manufacturer of the turbo certify it complies with emission regs ....?

that is a good insight thanks jeff, that is a good article. i am fine then, cause i am on my opens already so no problems here... the changes will only affect those who get their p`s ON OR AFTER 1st july this year... thank god....so if u are eligable for ur p`s before then, GET THEM NOW or u will miss out.....

Any car is capable of driving at dangerously high speeds in different situations. Take them out of a v8 falcon/commodore, they will do the same damn thing in an excel. Only I know which car I'd rather have an accident in.

Mate, whilst I agree with you on the fact that any car is capable of dangerously high speeps. Here is something to ponder.

Last week one of the young guys here at work had an accident. He was driving his turbo powered nissan and "in his words" coming out of a roundabout as he accellerated the pedal stuck to the floor. the result, both he and his mate landed themselves in hospital for 3 days. His car is wrecked. First thing I asked him was "isn't the car a manual" "Yep" he said. . "then why didn't you just push the clutch in"...."Didn't think of that" he replied "wouldn't that have blown my engine??? anyway, I was busy tring to brake (which did nothing with the pedal of a high powered car to the floor) an avoid the tree" Which he hit a high speed anyway. "But wouldn't htat have blown my engine??" he asked, It's rev limited isn't it, ooh yeah he said.

He says he would have been doing 80-90 when he hit. NOW. IF he was driving a lower powered car his impact would have been close to half the speed, If there was any resultant impact at all, and quite possible he and his mate would have walked away with a few brusies.


My point....... His accident was due to him driving a high powered car having quick accelleration, He is NOT an experienced enough to think clearly and act properly in the situation he was in, at high speed things happen much faster and have much worse consequenses. you need to think quicker and young inexperienced drivers DO NOT have this kind of ability.
