Default Advice needed - 1946 Jail Bar

Hi there,

New to the forum as I have aquired a 1946 (F1?) Jail Bar Stakebed truck, it was used as a promo vehicle for work. I was planning on keeping it, but things have changed quite quickly and I'm keen to sell it. I havent sold a vehicle in a long time, so thought I might start here and ask the experts on what you think about it and how should I go about selling it?

It starts, it runs, bascially rust free as it had a big makeover about 7 years ago and has been kept in a wharehouse since then.

Hoping for any advice from you guys?

Cheers,

Matt

Welcome, great looking flatbed.
Only thing I see wrong with it is the widowmakers wheels, when was the last time they were inspected ?

Why not advertise it in justtrucks.com.au.
They have a monthly magazine in stores as well as it will be advertised online with them.
Advertise it as a promotional vehicle or suitable to a truck collector, no idea on what its worth without more close up pics.
You could also ask over on the Historic Commercials Vehicles Club forum at hcvc.com.au/forum.
Very knowledgable guys on old trucks there.

Good luck with the sale. Truck picture is too nice to hide as a attachment.

Would like to see some more of the truck. See if you can stick some more pictures up here or in the "For Sale" section at the bottom of these forum pages.

Not enough posts yet to use the 'For Sale' area

Thanks mate, great old truck in his working clothes. Earlier resto interior looks comfy.
If it runs and moves it should sell quickly.

Widowmaker 2-3 piece split rim above, as opposed to later 2 piece split ring below.

Biggest problem with them is they usually rust along the inside joining edges which are hidden by the tyre/wheel assembly and are well known to disintegrate at speed without warning. Most truck restorers immediately replace these with the army type wheel assemblies.

The scariest thing is, half the wheel and tyre industry doesn't know the difference.
