Who would have thought. Considered rarer than the GTHO4.
A genuine Ford built 6 door 351 XY wagon built on special order for TAA airlines in Tasmania as a limo for VIP's. https://www.9news.com.au/motoring/fo...0-0fdca6efdb75 |

A 49-year-old Ford Falcon, dubbed by many as "Australia's rarest car" is set to go under the hammer in an auction that could potentially rake in millions.
The 1970 XY Falcon is the only model Ford ever made to feature six doors – three on each side – and is said to be in immaculate condition. Often referred to as the "holy grail" for blue oval fans, the vehicle was a special order fulfilled by Ford for TAA Airlines in Tasmania, who requested a courtesy limousine to shuttle VIP guests. The six-door 1970 Falcon is a one-off vehicle manufactured in 1970. (Lloyd's Auctions) It is the only six-door XY Falcon ever created. (Lloyd's Auctions) The vehicle is even rarer than one of three surviving Ford GTHO Phase IVs – the most recent of which recently fetched an eye-watering $1,030,000 at a 2018 auction. Lee Hames, Chief Operations Officer at Lloyds Auctions, said he expects bidding to be intense for this one-of-a-kind vehicle. "This Ford XY Falcon Wagon embodies collectability and could be the rarest car ever manufactured in Australia," said Hames. "It's the holy grail for Ford fans, the only one of its kind and it is in immaculate condition." Under the bonnet is a purring, eight-cylinder 351 Cleveland engine. (Lloyd's Auctions) It also comes standard with full Fairmont trim and a T-Bar automatic transmission. (Lloyd's Auctions) RELATED ARTICLES Locals' anger over Sydney motorway overpass that 'looks like something from downtown LA' Perth panel beater under fire for allegedly rorting customers Volkswagen and Audi settle for $127m in Australian 'diesel-scandal' class actions Mr Hames said his auction house has been flooded with enquiries since the vehicle first appeared online. "The story behind this car is just as special as the car itself. Winning numerous awards and featuring in auto magazines all around Australia, it has received great attention already, with enquiries flooding in since being published online," said Mr Hames. "Bidding will be extremely active on this car with the bidding starting at just $1." Fastidiously restored over eight years, the Falcon features an eight-cylinder 351 Cleveland engine, an 8ft chrome roof rack, four disc brakes, full Fairmont trim and factory integrated air conditioning. To hold all your luggage the vehicle also features an eight-foot chrome roof basket. (Lloyd's Auctions) The plush interior was designed to ferry VIP guests for TAA Airlines in Tasmania. (Lloyd's Auctions) The Falcon's odometer reads 13,217 miles – meaning in nearly 50 years the car has been driven just over 21,000 kilometres (equivalent to driving from Sydney to Perth five times). While many would assume the vehicle would be lovely polished by a Ford fan, many believe the one-off will be snapped up by a savvy investor looking to purchase an asset that will improve in value. "It is a collectors dream and presents an incredibly rare investment opportunity," the Lloyd's auction listing reads. "The car has won numerous trophies and has to be seen to be believed." The vehicle features full chrome bumpers. (Lloyd's Auctions) Interested buyers have just six days left until the vehicle will be auctioned off, with the current bid sitting at $50,000. Not for me, but that "Big Red" XY GT that is in the video of the article that sold last year for $1.08mil is just perfection.

I'm a big AU fan but I never thought you could hit an AU S1 with the ugly stick and make it worse yet that is running a close second to that abomination a few years back, that was on Ebay, with the Chrysler 300 grill. It just looks tacky.

Why has it got a Qld Modification Plate, saying the wheelbase has been modified (code LH4), if it was built by Ford as a one-off stretch wagon?
Is this a project build?
