It looks tiny in the picture, but it's pretty much the exact same size as the terri overall. It must be the shape of it which makes it look small.

The wait for the new Edge as a Territory Replacement is currently being discussed in the Territory forum.
Unless they are talking January 2018 which I doubt. by my math that's nearly 2 years without a family SUV. the article claims 1 year.

The current Edge was on the market in 2006 so we are getting a car that be 12 years old. the article comments on the Territory design being 12 years old now...

why so slow FORD?

PS please don't anybody bring the Everest into the discussion - if you haven't figured it out by now its a different type of vehicle.

The expectation is that there will be 2016 Terris still being sold in to next year (Feb/March) and the Edge should be arriving by boat Jan/Feb 2018 - so their numbers are not wrong, just a little 'generous'.

Edge will receive a new chassis and facelift mid 2017 with a final decision on the 5/7 seat configuration, engine(s) and place of manufacture all still to be finallised in 2017. This means that we are stuck without a car until 2018; and I'm fine with that. Too often Ford have imported the 'old' model, just as the car was being updated internationally, and have suffered in terms of sales each time.
To me, holding out might lose some sales but it won't leave a nasty taste in people's mouths either.

We will get the UK version built in Canada I think. May not be called Edge in Aus as Toyota own that name until 2022. It is a new car Bevsta.

The current Edge came out in 2014 in LHD. Where did you get 2006 from??

Good read. All but confirms that we will not get a 7 seat version.

They look great on the road, I see em all the time! Far better than any other SUV in its segment that I see each day. The edge does look a lot smaller than a Terry, but I cant compare side by side over here.

No match for a Terry though in Aus...

Pretty They have stopped taking orders for new cars to be built already. any sales at the moment or next year are surplus stock or ex demos.

I now see from the Article we will get the Edge with the 2017 update..

Will we get 2.7-litre EcoBoost turbo V6 version that churns out 235kW and 474Nm if so i will be def looking at one of these as our next family car. Pretty sure the UK does not get the V6 version hoping we do.

The current Edge was released in 2014 for the 2015 model year. It is an all new car with nothing in common with the previous generation.

Previously articles have said no.

I think the much thicker rear-pillar with small cargo side glass window gives it the impression of being shorter while the Terry has wrap around glass concealing the body-work and a more squared off tail.

I think its a bit shorter overall, not quite as much rear overhang perhaps, and a more curved rear. That gives it a squatter look, and hence the illusion of being smaller. I would imagine that for the 5 passengers it will be just as roomy, if not more so.

I would imagine that Ford would be looking to build them in SE Asia, for us and the local market.
If it has to come ex NA, its going to be bloody expensive.

By the time it arrives, my youngest will be 18. So glad I won't have to buy another "family" car. I can just stick to old Fords from now on.
