Just because the book is only stamped once, doesn't mean it wasn't serviced.

govco would of been serviced
pull the dipstick whats the engine oil condition?
if reasonable/clean then try to find receipts or chase harder?
the one recorded service, call that dealer/mech for futher history if they have it.

if oil dirty/thickened walk away unless real cheap and you like to gamble.

either way you have drama and want warranty you need to make sure you can prove servicing has been done as per logbook.

The warranty will be still there for some things but if you have a major drive train drama they will probably use the lack of recorded servicing to not honour it.

As above

Just because the book wasn't stamped doesn't mean the thing wasn't circused, dealers are that lazy they won't look for the book so unless the copper handed to the circus clown on check in it wouldn't have been stamped

If it was circused at ford they will be able to give you a circus history from their system

As above, also look under the oil filler cap and into the rocker cover!
Other signs are aftermarket plugs, air & oil filters.......
Maybe it's just had a service for SALE !
As MSMAN said, if its been Ford serviced, Ford should have it on record. (Ive been back twice in the last year because my now "former" dealer couldn't stamp it ).
Auto is good to 100k.
Ex gov? What dept ?
Look underneath for damage, check panel gaps, and colouring, interior cond......
Some can be great, some very sad.

Based on the average RACV mileage of 20,000km per year, a mileage of 88,000km looks very high for the vehicle's age. It should only have around 52,000km on the clock. With only one(!) recorded service, I'd be inclined to walk away.

At any rate, I wouldn't be looking at more than (say) $14K for that sort of vehicle—with such a lousy service record.

Police cars have to have stricter or more regular servicing, there fleet systems by itself would flag it if it dosnt, I dare say the book was hiding somewhere and wasn't found, being contracted work, good chance if you ring the recorded servicing agent, they've probably done the rest of them too

In NSW highway cars are serviced every 10k kms. Can't imagine it would be much different in other states. They at least would be regularly serviced, just like nay fleet car would be. If you can get it in writing that all warranty work will be honoured, for peace of mind of mind I would take out the extended warranty.

Get it clearly stated in writing if you do go ahead and are told it 'should' still have factory warranty.

It either does or it doesn't. It it was serviced correctly by Ford then they will have records of this.

I once called a Ford dealership / service department regarding a Focus I found on the net going a little too cheap. I just asked some random questions about consumables and servicing and the guy was nice enough to do a search on the VIN and he told me that the car in question certainly had NO factory warranty even tough it was only around a year old and had lowish KM.

Not sure how they can say that the car had no warranty only being a year old??? The car doesn't have to be serviced by Ford to maintain its warranty. If it was serviced by someone other than ford it won't show on their computer as being serviced. If the log books had been stamped then I think ford would struggle to deny a claim.

Don't know how but it certainly was the case. I was looking for a near new LV Focus of about a year old and they were going for around 20-22k and I found one for 17.

Perhaps it was flood damaged? Perhaps it had mods done then went in for warranty work that a dealership declined. Perhaps a dodgy repair that didn't go though insurance but was well below par?

I can assure you it came up on the computer system as factory warranty being null and void.

If a car has been written-off it wont have warranty.

Warranty ends 3 years from date of original sale. So although compliance plate says june 13, if it was sold in Dec 13, you would still have 11 months warranty..

From Ford Australia web site...

If I leave a lengthy time between services, will this impact my warranty?

Regular scheduled servicing is vital to maintain the performance of your car. You should always follow the recommended service intervals as outlined in your vehicle's Customer Assistance, Warranty and Service Guide, including any additional service requirements that your vehicle may need. Your Ford warranty does not cover damage caused by inadequate maintenance.

Yeah thanks
I wasn't making assumptions
No one said exactly that it was police !
The state it is in/Vs/ service records could even sway a decision on purchase.
It could be a RMS hwy/road service vehicle for all you know
There are plenty of hwy breakdown responce vehicles these days......
Or ambulance responce vehicles.
I was enquiring as to specifically, as th OP seems to know already.

You don't seem to have any positive imput !!!!!!
But thanks for the cheap shot

Plenty of cars get sold without any service record books at all. Treat it like one of those.
An independant mechanical inspection will tell you if its being looked after or not.
