I just came across this old email I received from a friend a few years back and thought it would make someone's day a little happier
Drivetrain Vibration Issue An american woman ran over a mattress on the freeway and decided to keep going. The ensuing jumble finally whipped around enough to put a tear in the gas tank. The subsequent lack of fuel is what finally brought this vehicle to its knees. It had still managed to drive 30 more miles decently with a 60lb tangle wrapped around the driveshaft. This genius complained that the vehicle had a "shimmy" when driving at high speeds. This is what the dealership found . . . Not my idea of a suitable spring upgrade |

I honestly think half the guys are like, do we even try to remove this or should we just replace the tailshaft...

You can’t overstate the safety aspects of a good tailshaft loop.
Good to see Sealy are branching out, support plus comfort. |

The story reminds me of people who drive into largish animals thinking they have run over them only to find them protruding from the grille a few hrs later when they are buying 'gas', some still alive...
I knew people that have this little brain power actually... Painful at the best of times, headache material the rest of the time...

Never ever seen anything like it, lucky she made it to the dealership safe. It probably would've looked like cracker night driving behind it in the dark!
cheer's, Maka

I had a Galah fly into my number plate/cooler and yes it was dead (there was no thud/knock/bang)... Didn't notice the bend/smell until a few days later.
Number plate is still bent slightly but apart from that. All good... As far as I can tell. |

Unbelievable!
I don't think a Falcon alloy tail-shaft would take 60lbs additional out of balance weight! I hit a roo going up to the Bendigo Swap in November this year, impact just below the D/S headlight, luckily no leaking fluids but skippy is with his friends in Kanga heaven. $4000 pay out by Shannons and a sympathetic repairer put the ute back on the road.

I laughed when I saw the faces had been partially blacked out.
I would want to be recognised so I was able to say look I was a witness to one of the dumbest motoring events ever. Plus how does one run over something as big as a bed mattress and not at the least pull over to check the outcome? First thing you’d do is look into the rear view mirror and if something didn’t pop out the back you’d pull over to check and even if it did, you’d still pull over to ensure there was no damage. |
