why do you love/ like ford??

Just wondering why do people on here like/love fords?? It can be any fords, European, American, Australian etc

heres my reasons:

never had too many major issues with Fords, the worse was a shot transmission, (still drove it out on the highway) never died. I kinda had a helping hand in that so not really the cars fault, most of the fords I see and have driven I like. the Falcon makes the best big car over every other Australian built car, best looking 1 tonne ute of the whole lot as well and is very capable of hauling decent loads, I like the Mustang and those F-250s!!! Every model Falcon that has come out I have liked. I know they can stupid little niggly things wrong with them thou I have never been left stranded by one!! the fact I can let both me AUs sit for 2 weeks and still start first go. I feel cars like the FPVs, Falcons and Territories are very underrated and has been for a while. when Ford announced it was closing Australian manufacturing, I had more respect for the brand, they bowed out gracefully. I also have abit more respect for Toyota for what they said in regards too manufacturing in Australia. thou that's another thread. its a shame jobs have to go but that's the truth. my dream Ford which i'll get bagged out for is the FG GT-R spec.

100% agree with you. I have tried the opposition and I keep coming back to Fords because I like the way they drive, they are cheap to run and repair and they are very reliable on the whole.

I currently have 2 Falcons, a GT and a G6, and they are both great cars I am very happy to own.

Because they're more reliable than the following:-
Euro trash-- OK to go to the nearest supermarket [ don't like our roads or our hot weather ]
Pommie rubbish- Use them on fine sunny days only, any moisture and even Jags give trouble [ Maybe not, now that Ford own them ]
Jap and Korean rice rockets- Well put together but no good over a long distance.

Ford have a long history of reliability, huge service network, original designers of the best engine ever designed--- the V8 and last but most importantly are the most comfortable cars on a long drive.

Personally I've owned
BMC 1100, 64 compact Fairlane, VW beetle, EK Holden, Morris van, VE Valiant,XC Falcon, XD Falcon, Toyota Camry, GQ Nissan Patrol, 2x Mitsubishi Pajeros, Toyota Corona, Hilux ute, WB Statesman, Mitsubishi Verada AWD, Toyota Landcruiser and buying an RTV ute at the moment.

Best cars I've had, the compact Fairlane and the XC.
Worked in a lot of workshops and dealerships for lots of different manufacturers but you could always tell when you sat in any of the big fords, they just feel better than the others.
I'm sure there's lots of cops and cabbies out there who would give some good feedback on why Fords are better.

I like my Falcon because it has no tech and therefore it is easy to work on and very little other than basic mechanical failures go wrong.

As a kid, it was mostly because everyone else loved Holden and kept rubbishing Fords. I didn't want to be on the same side as them.

I like Ford because I was brought up with them, my father is a Ford man.
We had copious amounts of Falcons but what really got me into Ford was the Mustang, I had and still do love the 1969 and 1970 fastbacks.
Then, being a child raised in the 80's I was brought up on a diet of ballistic Sierra Cosworths racing around Bathurst and the ATCC.

From there I began looking at other Fords, the XY Falcon and XA GT (Coupe and Sedan) along with the ZL Fairlanes. I haven't really had much passion for the Falcon as much others have. I did admire the Tickford editions though, always liked the EB and ED XR6 but never desired one. In saying that I did buy a BA XT and BF2 XR8.

Now I have gone back to my roots and admire the Euro Fords with a soft spot still for the Mustang.

Don't really like Fords as I haven't driven one that really excites me (maybe the current mustang I could live with).

Falcons on the other hand I love the way they ride on the road. They handle pretty well for a large car. The torque from the I6 and now coupled with a turbo is awesome. V8's are pretty good as well. The ute's are fantastic as they don't have crap ride and handling like the jacked up ute's that you buy.

Every time I drive something else I think they're ok (sometimes they're just rubbish) but I appreciate the Falcon more when I jump in that again. Not sure whats will happen when Falcon is no more (in new form), probably let the missus decide what she wants to buy.

Will have to work out a Falcon to keep for the long haul.

I feel the same way but have a v8 under the hood, so it sounds good as well, but doesn't troll as many commodore owners.

My car is of the age where things have and continue to need fixing, but none of it has been ridiculously expensive - nor has general maintenance. I think that's an advantage ford has over some other makes and in particular the European ones. It is good value motoring in a comfortable, powerful car, that endears the falcon in particular to me.

Our Fiesta, which we bought new, also seemed like good value, reasonable quality motoring, with acceptable driving experience, features and better handling than the alternatives at its price point.

Ford just seems to offer good overall value for money - new or used.

Ford the company lost me in the last couple of years. Which on reflection I think is quite sad, because I've had oodles of them, most brand new.

My dad had always bought Holdens from when we first arrived in Australia in 1966. My first car was a 1966 Cortina 440, 4-on-the-column. Was a great little car. Then had a TC Cortina 2000 station wagon - that put me off Fords for a long time - had a succession of Holdens, a Sigma GSR (great car!), and then a 1989 EA Falcon S.

I traded that in on an EB II SXR8 4-speed auto - my first Ford V8! Since then I've always had a Ford V8 - loved them all and had very, very little trouble with them.

We have the R-Spec and Territory at the moment; the Terri is a great car too, so quiet, smooth and versatile - only had a couple of warranty issues which were well attended to by the dealer.

We're now looking at getting a Focus for my wife (just got her full licence!).

I love the R-Spec so I guess I must love Ford!

I have loved Fords since my first Ford (Falcon) which was a AU1 station wagon (company car). Since then I have had 7 Falcons ranging from 2 AU2 onwards to the current FG. But the shine has now worn off. The Falcon is no longer exciting to me due to the way Ford have treated the Falcon and the lack of upgrades (FG2) and improvements (to date) to the Falcon is making it an easy one to go elsewhere. No other car in the Ford stable interests me. Ford need to bring the FH release forward to early 2014 or shut up shop now.

Never ever owned a holden to date, and despite my dad having worked for holden all his working life he never had a holden him self the Xw fairmont on my profile pic was his very first car. Fords are just good cars all round...

I loved the look and sound of the old GT's. When it came time to buying one however, they weren't cheap. So my first car purchase was a 65 mustang on my 20th birthday. Had the car for 8 years now. Almost indestructible besides rust haha.

For me, it was the EA Falcon.

Yes, the EA has had its problems, as I was to discover later in life when I was old enough to actually own one. But she was a very pretty car for its time, especially the Fairmont Ghia. I fell in love with Falcons when I first saw the EA at the car rental agency, and that was it. I became a Ford man.

Back then (1990s), I loved everything Ford - Laser, Telstar, Falcon, Fairmont, Fairlane. I fancied myself as a bit of a spotter as well, I could pick an ED GLi from and EBII GLi without looking at its front end (rear number plate surround is grey on ED, black on EBII).

Nowadays, I still love everything Ford. Fiesta, Focus, Mondeo, Kuga, Falcon and Territory. I don't really care where it's made, so long as it has a Ford badge and the Ford 'DNA'. In almost 15 years since I started driving, I've owned three cars, all of which are Fords. Unless I win lotto, in which case anything can happen, my next car is most likely to be a Ford.

Don't know what it's called but one particular blue that Ford are using is the absolute best. It's very close to Bristol Blue Glass which is my favourite colour.

As a kid I spent four years living next door to what was formerly my grandfather's car wrecking business. This was the late eighties but still their safety regulations were so lax that they allowed my six year old self free reign to wander the yard and sit and play in all the cars. As a kid I couldn't have cared less about engines or driveability but I always gravitated towards things like TC Cortinas and XA/XB falcons because I loved the cool kitsch 70's features such as the big bucket seats, chrome trim, fake woodgrain and for some reason I loved the way the gauges recessed into the dashboard.
A couple of years later my dad got an ED Futura classic as a company car. I loved the red bumper inserts and the awesome alloy wheels but what was super cool was it was the first car I had been driven around in with things like central locking, steering wheel controls and although I didn't at that time fully understand what ABS was, the sticker on the back said the car had it and that was good enough for me! Also Johnson and Bowe won Bathurst that year so I was pretty much hooked on Ford by then.

I learned to drive in a series of dad's vt-vx fleet cars and while they were ok, I hated the way the engine delivered the power and the transmissions were really clunky on takeoff. by contrast my friend's new au iii was smoother, torquier, more comfortable to sit in and better finished.
I now drive an XR50 and it is the best car in the world for my needs. Roomy, powerful, handles great, cheap to run and insure, looks the tits and was great value for money. I wouldn't buy anything else. I should also add that I have owned 4 fords and not once had a breakdown or any other major mechanical issue in 12 years of driving.

One day in 1969 as I was waiting for my lift to school in Ocean Grove Victoria, I heard a monster rumbling down the road towards me. It passed me by without eating my bony 6 year old frame, turned right and just thundered away to parts unknown. That was the first time I ever actually noticed a car. It was a Holden Monaro and I had never seen anything that cool before. I then promptly forgot about it until the late 70s, when lightning struck again. By this time I had a definite ambition that a Monaro was going to be my first car... Then, as I was standing by a roadside in Brisbane somewhere, I saw what was to become my lifelong desire, an XA or B coupe, I can't remember which and I was converted to all thing blue right there and then and I dropped to my knees and praised the Lord, singing 'Hallelujah Lord, though hast shown me the righteous way and saved me from the General's clutches...'

OK the last bit is not true... but maybe that's how I felt. I still like HK-G Monaros but I spent the 80s behind the wheel of an XA and XB coupe... I want them back!!!

Was a holden fan many many year ago. Went to look at a VH commodore and I purchased the XF falcon across the road and never looked back. My family is full of holden fans im the odd one out.
I have a soft spot for the AU falcon having owned 2, and XR6 and TE50.
Since those ive developed more of a love for euro fords from old escorts and sierras to the latest offerings.
Also im a massive fan of the turbo 6, if I needed a big car id own an XR6T in a heart beat.

My interest in Falcons began in 1971 with a special moment that'll live with me forever.

I grew up in the Central Queensland town of Biloela. Our family never had Fords as dad was more of a Holden man. My oldest brother was matey with a young bloke in from the local area whose father bought him a brand new Falcon, I think for his 17th or 18th birthday. I remember my brother was quite excited about this car - which I thought was a bit unusual given that he was, and still is, a Holden man as well. I was only 11 years old at the time so I guess his enthusiasm pretty much went over my head.

l still have a crystal clear recollection of that 'moment'. I was down in the main street of the town one afternoon after school and was running a few errands for mum. I was walking along the footpath when I heard what sounded like a jet aircraft. The jet sound then morphed into the Beatles song, 'Back in the U.S.S.R.' which was playing pretty loudly. The song coincided with the sound of a lopey idle of a V8.

I turned in the direction of both sounds and there was 'the Falcon' cruising along very slowly, probably in 1st gear, and I saw my brother in the front passenger seat. They were obviously playing the song as loud as possible on an eight track played or something. What really struck me though was the car. It was one of the most beautiful looking vehicles I'd ever seen. Metallic (or 'iridescent' as we all said back then!) blue with GT stripes, the shaker, spoilers and all the fruit - even at 11 years old I knew it was something special.

The Falcon was an Electric Blue XY GTHO and I believe was the only one ever sold in our area. Some months later the young owner lost control of it and ran into a paddock at pretty high speed and the story was that dad demanded it gone after that. I heard that it then went to Gladstone where it was repaired. The story was that the guy who bought and repaired it crashed the car somewhere in the Gladstone area and lost his life in in but I don't know how much of that is fact or fiction.

I'd like to think it's still around somewhere!
