Default Exhaust crackle

Do you like it? I have noticed among some of my car friends that they don't like the overrun crackle when changing down gears or the rumble you get when you clutch in. I personally don't mind it as long as it isn't almost backfiring all the time. Mine nearly backfires when cold when I clutch in and I personally love it. What are your opinions?

Love a decent exhaust note - the crackle just adds to it

Loved it but going from standard with hotdog center to 3.5 inch xforce and it's all but gone now unfortunately.

The Focus came standard with it, removed the resonator and it took it to the next level.
Backfires when cold and or when on boost for a while.

My 130i has a crazy amount of crackle/popping/gurgling with the Eisenmann exhaust system and deleted center muffler. I absolutely love it, and all of my friends reckon it sounds awesome as well.

I love any car that has a nice crackle/pop, I rarely hear many that do though :(

Isn't the crackle just unburned fuel igniting in the exhaust pipe? it's probably a waste of gas, but i don't mind it if it's done tastefully (ie not setup to do it intentionally).

There's also the exhaust noise from the little dab on the accelerator when double clutching while changing down a gear. Adds to the whole effect.

Bloody F&F strikes again. Why would you double clutch in a car that's transmission has syncros? All its going to do is slow you down. Heel and toeing on the other hand (which I presume your talking about) yes sounds awesome when done right especially with crackle.

I love a bit of rumble/crackle. Particularly on a V8 it is a necessity.
Although only a 6, I love when mine does it.

Depends on the car. Some cars have an awful note anyway, so the less I hear of it the better.

In love it in my blown 5.0 sounds so sweet bouncing around in the big stainless pipes, can hear it through the floor in the cats as much as out the back, love the metallic sound of this car more than the deep sound of the chevs

Granny shifting not double clutching like you should, you'll blow the welds off your intake and floor if you're not careful.

The crackle is also the cold air entering the pipe, when you back off, the is a little vacuum in the pipe that sucks in air...

Well, im lead to believe...

Yes, a proper V8 exhaust should crackle...

I was having some fun on the way home the other day backing off from 5000rpm in 1st gear and it honestly sounded like gunfire as the crackles bounced off the walls on both sides of the street !!

It was a magical moment that put a smile on my face...

One of the highlights of driving my old V8 was the crackle on downshift... yes... I would intentionally shift from 3rd to 2nd instead of braking for the lights just to hear it
