Hi fellas,
I am doing my major design project and and just need to have a target market survey. For my major design project I am doing an air compressor conversion. I have a few quick questions about air compressors and one question on age. What is your age? What would you use an or your air compressor for? What would be your price range that you would purchase one for? Petrol or Electric? Wheels or no wheels? CFM (Cubic Feet Per Minute) rating? If you want to send your answers via inbox that is fine. If you do not yet own an air compressor please tell me what you would like to find in each question and if you own one please put it in perceptive of what you would like to upgrade to. Just used an Black Ridge (Super cheap brand)
-Age 27 -Used it to prop up Valves in the head whilst changing the valve springs -Cost $198 -Electric -Wheels -it was 120 lpm (4.3 cfm), with a 40l tank

use...various nail guns, air tools, cleaning out dust from machinery, inflating tyres $1200 - $1500 electric wheels 12 - 16 CFM good luck with your project.

What would you use an or your air compressor for? Inflating tyres, air cleaning, painting, air tools (impact wrench etc) What would be your price range that you would purchase one for? Up to $500 Petrol or Electric? Electric Wheels or no wheels? Wheels CFM (Cubic Feet Per Minute) rating? 11.5. I own three at the moment and am looking for a bigger one now. Doubtless like the others it too will eventually prove too small.

So along with what type of air compressor either electric or petrol what drive system would you prefer on electrical (single or 3 phase) whether it would be a direct or belt driven. |

Errr.... 40l ex-lpg tank, 1/2 hp electric motor from a washing machine, compressor from a 1950's shop ice-cream freezer (Golden-North ice-cream) belt drive, CFM no idea, built 30 years ago, still going strong. Sack truck wheels, removable handle ! Used as air-duster, bike tires, car tires, and anything else you need air for. Cost: slab of beer and a smile

Aircomp use's Spraypaint(automotive/furniture), nailguns, masonry chipper gun, gets used mostly for blowing dust while woodturning and blowing off dust from floorboards/rough sawn pine that I recycle/dry too make usable stock(helps prolong thicknesser blade life...), also when Im batch making parts to blow the saw dust away. So yeah mine gets a good workout, its installed in its own little cozy house outside of my shed keeping the noisey dust extractor company  Next purchase, $1500~2500 4hp single phase hard wired 120ltr tank on skids Petrol or electric, Both have their place. Wheels/skids, once again both have their place 12~14cfm would be enough for my needs as I dont run die grinders etc constantly but do really need a more pro level job as in the future I would like to further my woodworking to a part time job specialising on Bars and bar furniture for man caves. My current machine is a 14cfm Clisby(real world about 9cfm as its a 2.5hp motor)that I purchased for $1100 back in the late 90's... just cant kill it!

50L 2.5hp 12-14cfm+ 10a/15a/electric Belt driven Cast iron over alloy preferably Ingersoll rand $200-$400 second hand 5-10yrs old Used for everything. Once I pick it up! cleaning, die grinder, degreaser/kero, car detailing, spraying, sandblasting, air gun/cleaning dust from electronics/keyboards. Mainly for cleaning/sanding/grinding/polishing tight spots and replacing spray cans/degreaser which is effectively just kerosine

Use: Bought for and used just with a nail gun when renovating Cost: $150 Electric direct drive Wheels 120L/min If I was to buy again I would spend ~$300 for a second hand, belt driven electric, with at least 160L/m.

I bought a Hyundai about 3yrs ago was about $900 17cfm free air (cant remember tank size) its a triple cylinder with a 17Amp single phase belt drive on it. has wheels one one end but I reckon if it had a set of castors on the other that would be better. used for paining and air tools, pumping up tyres, small sand blaster, I wanted to get plasma cutter too. |
