Default Hoon in a Commodore ute

I pulled up at the lights yesterday in my BA GT next to a red Commodore ute with p plates. The driver, cap on backwards, leered at me, revved his engine and indicated he'd like a race.

I smiled at him then stared straight ahead.

The lights changed to green.

He took off, chipped the V8 Holden into second and sped away in a pall of exhaust smoke.

I pulled away normally, no rush, no fuss.

He looked a little miffed when I pulled up next to him at the next lights...

What did he expect from a bloke in his 50s with two kids in the back seat? Sheesh.

I thought V8's & P plates were not an allowable combination - mainly due to the young & dumb driving wrecklessly.

I wonder if you caught him on a car cam and sent it in to the police would he be charged for street racing or reckless driving?

Fair go, he only chirped into second and you want to report him to the police? Struth, how about live and let live. So he's a bogan in a V8, who hasn't done that at some stage? Glasshouse anyone?

I dont mind it so much if someone gives it a light squirt as long as it won't endanger others, watching a goose tonight on the way home weaving in and out of traffic through gaps he shouldn't be like a ratbag, usual dude with homeboy demeanor driving an old poobox, never a speed cam around when you need one .

Saw a bloke doing something similar on eastlink this arvo....clapped out Lexus ES300, black stockies and riding on its bump stops, and I mean literally, hit the bumps near high st rd and I swear I saw the back of the car skip off the ground.

Some of these younger blokes must think P stands for 'Professional'.

Not a hoon but some Bogan in a early 90s Commodore ute went spastic at me today because I stopped to let someone out of a car space in front of me in Evans st Sunbury as I was driving up.

Must be something wrong with Holden owners I swear.

Karma, I be nice and hopefully someone is nice to me later, lol.

Also another 90s Commodore ute on the side of Melbourne-Lancefield rd near Rolling Meadows with a P plate smashed into a light pole, just sitting on the side of the road with doors open up against the pole with a smashed up front end.

Not a very good sign for an engine of that age. But it's a great feeling when a hoon gets shown up.

My mate had some idiot in a commodore ute try a flick spin u-turn in from of him from the other direction in the wet. This idiot didn't lose traction and ended up at 90 degrees to a 40 series troopie with a huge bullbar barreling at him. My mate pulled up with about 300mm to spare, if he hadn't have stopped in time, I know which car would have been totalled and which may have been slightly scratched.

I just drove from Brisbane back up to Cairns through tons of roadworks and hold ups. This often resulted in long chains of motorists (trucks, caravans, trailers, 4WDs, sportier vehicles etc) and many situations which cause consternation and impatience. Only twice did I see idiots trying to pass a multitude of cars and be heroes.

You guessed it - a current model SS (or whatever it's called) fully sic, lowered etc -sparks flying out from underneath as it bottomed out all the time - and a clapped out smoky VT.

Ever since i bought my xr6t i been challenged by holden drivers left right & center. one even got upset with me thinking id cut him off intentionally, i didnt truth is he was going so fast that when i went in front of him while i indicated with this intention & i was doing 60k an hour it looked like i had & he came out of no where, he must have been doing 90k's an hour & plus in peak hour traffic in busy oakleigh!!. I even get challenges by other ford owners, i never expected this after buying my xr6t. Seems some people get intimidated or something & see my car as a challenge!!!

Id rather let them just have their fun on their own while i enjoy my cruizing & live & be safe!!

It must be a city thing. I never see stuff like that out here. It's a different world when i head to the city for the day though, it's a race for everyone down there! Even my few mates from east Melbourne drive like idiots, always carrying on about how fast they went around a certain corner/windy road, then they whinge about having no points left on their licence. And they dive 4 pot mazda's and camry's. I've kept all my points driving modified 6 pot and v8 falcons, and they think I'm crazy, it must come with the territory. It's got me stuffed why everyone is in such a hurry in the city.
Whinge over...

My favorite bogans in a commodore story is from when my GT-P was new. A couple of idiots lined up next to me on Saltwater Ck Rd in Maryborough in an old SS and as the lights changed took off flat out to show me just how tough their cars was. As I reached 60 they were still pulling away by a huge amount

I suspect they will always remember the day they "smoked" a GT-P as there was a guy dressed in blue about 150m up the road taking pictures. I think he may have sent them one in the mail......

That tends to happen to me allot too, people are so impatient. The other day it happened and I thought stuff it and let like 5 or 6 people out in front of me, guy behind me was furious haha.

My cars not exactly inconspicuous but I never get people trying to race me, just tailgated on the freeway all the time because I'm doing the speed limit.

Yes there are Ford hoon drivers but they are in the minority, a young guy gets into a Commodore and they have a brain fade.
Watch all the news reports, fatals, cars into houses, chases etc, predominantly but not exclusive to, Commodores.
