Just had a chat with my uncle. He drove past the accident, saw the driver being cut out of the wreck.
Unfortunantly the driver passed away, we was apparently very young aswell.
He reckons speed was the main factor, and being young, inexperience would also play a role.

I didn't notice anything related on NSW Police media releases
http://www.police.nsw.gov.au/news

Didn't have any luck on google either.

Do the "hoons" still meet near there on the hwy somewhere?

edit: should of refreshed the page before posting. Good to hear the driver is alive, hope he & everyone else is ok.

Glad to hear the driver survived, understand if you don't want to expand was it driver error or some other moron that forced accident.

If you want to PM me find too, wish the driver a speedy recovery.

Hi all, I was the driver of the Monaro Ht and I'm at home and doing well after 6 weeks in hospital. Here is what happen and this is from the horses mouth. Someone turned into my lane, your first instinct is to swerve to avoid hitting the car and having an accident but in my case I ended up having my own accident that nearly killed me and making a mess of the car. Had I of hit the car that came into my lane I might of done minor damage to the Monaro as I was only travelling at about 30mph and walked away from the accident.
Thanks John for setting the story straight. I'm not leaving this life time in no hurry as I still have to have some fun with you Ford guys. Go that muscle car era.

Yeah its always easy to say with hindsight, what might have happened "if." I'm sure your family would rather have you, main thing is you're ok. I agree about instinct, I and most others would have served just like you did.

Interesting it did not make the news ....probably because they could not attach a hoon headline to it because of the facts spoke otherwise . Journalism at its finest ..

If every car accident was in the news the paper would be as thick as a Telephone book every day. Only the smallest fraction of murders, stabbings and serious car accidents ever make the news.

If everything was reported people would not leave their homes any more.

PS glad the driver is OK, lets hope the other drivers insurance pays up for the Monaro.

Glad you're OK. Intersting to note 30mph into a pole in an old muscle car can land you 6 weeks in hospital.

I bet a 2010 car with crumple zones and airbags you may have simple got out and walked away shaken.

I still love the old stuff though. Pics would be interesting.

Totally correct mate, most of the time the real brutal stuff does not even make the news just occasionally they report a thing or two.

Three years later, after reading through the thread I was hoping to see a photo of the car repaired and back in pristine condition. Not a photo of the wreck that you have to be in facebook to see. Glad I'm not a member of fb.
