Default The Anniversary model

This morning driving to work I noticed 7 Anniversay model cars. All from the Lion. Is this just another badge to sell a car?

BTW, the car where a 25th Anniversay VY/VZ Wagon? And 6 x 60th anniversary model Holdens, 3 Astras and 3 Commodores.

What other Anniversay models are out there? And what is the anniversary for?

60th year I think is how long Holden has been going! But I dont know about the 25th Anniversary VY/VZ is for? Maybe age of Commodore?

The 25th anniversary one could be the 25th anniversary of the Commodore, but the 60th anniversary ones are for the 60th anniversary of making Holdens in Australia (ie the 48-215 in 1948).

There's also a recent 20th anniversary for HSV.

AFAIK the 60th are just Omegas/Berlinas with some more fruit.

Holden/FPV/HSV seem to be chucking a LOT or "special" editions out lately. Do that too much and you burn the customers who bought just before the latest "special" and exclusive seems less exclusive.

It's 'value adding' to shift more units, like the final BFII Falcon SRs. I would expect to see more of it as Holden and Ford both look at ways to shift stock.

The one recent anniversary model I really liked was the BF Cobra.

They had their good and bad points.

Pros:
* Good way to shift BF GTs before the FG was released (they really sold like hot cakes).
* Got a power upgrade as well as the decals, seat logos, accents, badges, mp3 connection, etc.
* Tribute to the original XC Cobra which celebrated that sweet 1-2 last lap at Bathurst.

Cons:
* Not a coupe.
* FG GT got a power upgrade over Cobra.

Don't forget that every normal FPV BF2 that was made after the Cobra had a 302kW output anyway... the Cobra was really just the introduction of the 302Kw output in the FPV lineup.... the the FG came out with the 315Kw V8...

And they still are struggling to sell, just look how many magazine ads they have paid for in the past month trying to move them off the lots. Wheels, Motor, AMC.

The 5th Anniversary was a failure. If FPV thought they would sell quickly like the 40th and Cobra they were sadly mistaken.
