Default Ever been unfairly yelled at by another driver?

I thought I'd share my most recent experience.

The other day I turned a corner and gently (I stress gently) get up to about 30 km/h in the 50 zone and enter a slight bend to see a Commodore stopped completely across the small road ahead. The lady driver sees me coming and I'm already easing down my speed, anticipating she's going to finish backing out and clear so I can pass.

But she's panicking and looks like she's fumbling with the controls. I come to a stop because she's not moving yet. She finally moves and leans out and yells, "FFFFing slow down, you FFFFing moron, it's a suburban street!" etc.

I can only assume she was having a bad day, or it's because my car is a little noisy and she assumed I was going faster.

I just smiled, gave her a "what the?" face with a crooked eyebrow and drove on.

What are your stories?

sounds like she wanted to blame you for her incompetance.

I would have shook my head as I drove past her.

i actually received a PM on here from someone having a dig at me for tailgating them, big long rant, although i did giggle because the bloke said "i know it was you because of your venom body kit and falcon stickers"

which would be all well and good if i had those 2 items on my car

The missus and i were driving back home after shopping in Geelong. She was driving and just for info sake it was in her Mazda 121 bubbleback. She is a fairly jumpy and cautious type personality.
There is a train bridge we pass under where it's a two lane road that turns into three lanes(one turns left, two turn right). this train bridge has pylons dividing the two lanes and as you come out from under it you have the three lanes to choose from.
Well my girlfriend and i were driving beside an L plater car under the bridge and as both cars came out, the L-plater merged into the middle of the three lanes(where the missus wanted to go. As she is very jumpy, she crapped herself and tooted the horn in a panic. We got to the lights and the L-plater car in front stopped at the lights only to have some big bikie type guy get out of the passenger seat and start yelling at us.
I had to wind down the window and apologize for her even though he was a bit of a git. I hate people that intimidate!

Dauphin, that woman sounds like an incompetent moron who was trying to make herself feel better by yelling at you. I must admit that I have yelled at drivers on several occasions - only when I'm on my bike though and these people definately all deserved it.

Yeah, like people who cruise around in first to be extra loud and those who get out of the car at traffic lights...

your not alone mate. My mrs used to call it 'wobbly day' when she used to work at the bank. She said it was the busiest day of any week/fortnight/month. I avoid the shops like the plague on that day. It seriously tests my patience.

correct.
Stupid people assume the louder your exhaust, the faster you're going. I used to have an old corolla that wasn't quiet, but wasn't loud either. I had to rev it lots to get it moving. An old lady in my old street used to hate the car and say things to the neighbours like 'hes gonna kill someone one day, with how fast he drives'. When i got my falcon, i could accellerate the same amount by barely touching 2000rpm, and the falcon is nice and quiet. apparently old lady commented that i've slowed down since i got my new car, i mustn't want to hurt it.

Hah.

A friend of had a parking mishap one time in a certain shopping centre car park on the upper north shore which is almost impossible to find parking in during the day. They had been driving around for half an hour looking for a spot and finally found someone pulling out. They stopped, waited and put their blinker on. The car backed out blocking her from driving in immediately and from the other side some impatient woman decides to jump into the spot. After an angry toot from my friend the lady who stole the spot makes some smart *** comment about being too slow and what not and calls my friend that was waiting first a bit**.. A bit uncalled for..

So when they finally found a car spot, did their thing in the shops and was walking back through the shopping centre walked past the car and decided to let the womans tyre down..

when i heard this i just had to laugh

now i know its probably not the right thing to do but i absolutely hate selfish and discourteous drivers and i think she deserved what she got..

Ahhh drives me insane when my missus has passenger rage. Really peeves me aye.

She’ll reach over and beep the horn, give people the finger, yell. All this kinda stuff.

And I can relate to the loudness=faster business. My car is stupidly loud for a BA 6, I’ll be slowly accelerating from lights, and people in other cars will be glaring at me. Even had one guy the other day say “Wanna make your car louder mate, I can’t hear the POS.” I nearly got out and thumped him.

I think you have to have a little give as a driver. Fact is people will enter roundabouts when its not their turn, not indicate in roundabouts, pull out of angle parking in front of you, not check their blind spot before merging etc.

The majority of the time they are just people misjudging distances and speed which while dangerous is a one of the perils of driving, and i personally do what i can to accomodate other drivers. I think your head shake was the perfect 'comment' just a little tsk tsk, not to abuse them but to say, "i'm disappointed in you".

I had a funny incident just over a week ago. I pulled into a 7-11 to get fuel. There are 2 bowsers and there was a car pointing the opposite direction at one of them. A bloke came out after paying for fuel, and presumably his wife was in the drivers seat so rather than park head-on with him, I decided to just pull to the left of the pumps so they could drive straight out. Well, they just sat there for half a minute at least, so I gave up waiting, backed up and pulled up to the right of the pump, head-on with them. I got out to get the fuel, and the bloke got out of the passenger seat. He yelled at me "Thanks a lot mate" and started directing his wife to reverse. There was stacks of room to reverse, but she was extremely bad at it, so he was having to guide her. When she'd reversed out, he got back in and they drove out, giving me the biggest glare!

I gave them so much time, my intentions couldn't have been any clearer, so I still don't know why they didn't go when I left room for them!

Totally right, couldnt agree more. When you do the tsk tsk most of the time you'll get a sorry wave, which is to say they stuffed up and they know it. If you hang out the window and yell, you get the finger, yelled back at, swerves and brake tests. Most people on the roads just need to calm down. Its the people with road rage that cause accidents.

Another fuel station story.. pulled up to a pump and didn't move forward to the next pump because it wasn't a premium pump. Had this woman who lined up behind me, waiting for me to move forward. As i began to fill up she got out of the car and started going off at me.. I waited until she finished (by that stage there were a few onlookers) and then pointed to the premium and told her that if she bothered to take her head out of her **** she would see that i'm filling up with premium and the next pump up doesn't have it..... She shut-up and got back in her car and drove off without filling her car! :togo:

Didnt involve me but I was following a Hilux with 4 guys on Westernport Hwy he was catching a truck - anyway a red Corrolla come up on the left, passes me and pulls along side the hilux and indicates and moves across into the Hiluxs lane, I would say cutting off the Hilux is an understatement the Hilux has to move right and brake to avoid hitting her - she taps the breaks (I presume the Hilux flashed her)

I will be spending the least amount of time possible on the roads at Christmas time - thats when its gets really crazy

yeah i witnessed one the other day, cant remember exact circumstances but i think a Bseries XR6 cut off a magna, trying to get to the front of the line for the red light, anyways old mate in magna jumps out of car walks over to falcon and talks or yells..... we took nothing of it, then he backs off and old mate in the falcon pulls out some big as stick, like no word of a lie its almost bigger than him, and gives the magna driver some back..... then they speed up after each other

got it on video somewhere.....

other time was some people jay walking and ive stopped obviously otherwise id kill them..... car behind is blarring their horn at me so i give some back... and the falcon horn isnt quiet and the people walking across the road said something to her F^&%^% UP!

some people take it too seriously, just breath and get the hell out of the way

Up the road from me, every time I leave my place in a certain direction, I need to go over a small railway overpass. Its a stupid design, a bit hard to explain, but there are 2 give way signs, both of them are designed that the cars going straight are the ones that need to give way to the other cars going over the bridge around a bend. I don't know if its always non locals that do it, but without fail theres always some idiot goes straight through them without slowing, or they see the other car and assume they have the right of way. The only reason there aren't more accidents is its a slow road, usually with time to stop, and locals are aware of this and take appropriate care. HOWEVER, 9 times out of 10, if some dope doesn't give way to me, they abuse me, or I honk the horn and they give me the finger or yell out. Now and again if I've had enough, and if I'm in the way, I'll stop the car, wind down the window, point to the give way sign, and say 'what the **** do you think that Give Way sign means?' They usually don't reply of course and I even had one apologise.

Add to that there are pedestrian crossings at both give way signs and are the only way commuters can leave the station in both directions - making it dangerous and a MAJOR bottleneck at peak times with the human cattle. Sutherland Council you are a DISGRACE!!

Rant over.

I got yelled at this morning, don't know why? Just smiled, waved and kept on keepin' on.

Sounds like you aren't either. Pot, meet kettle.

In QLD you would've been done for wilfully creating excess noise from your motor vehicle. Last time it was $140 and 2 points, but fines have gone up here since then.

You best pull your head in and think before you do absolutely anything.

Sounds like some of you guys need new girlfriends.

I'd hate a distraction like that when driving.

you haven't seen anything till you have seen the way people get around on golf buggies up here.

The assumption that there are no other vehicles on the roads, the perception that the roads are not real roads so you can't get booked, the fact that they are all on holidays so their brains are at home in the fridge and the novelty value of driving a left hand drive golf buggy on the road makes for a very dangerous mix.

Driving the wrong way around round abouts, not giving way, stopping in the middle of the road to have a chat with people going the other way, grossly overloading buggies, driving on the wrong side of the road, kids well under driving age in control of buggies, all things we see on an hourly basis around here, and thats before you count pedestrians who are walking in the middle of the road even though there is a perfectly good footpath a few meters to the other side of them.

If nothing else it teaches tolerance!
