Wouldn't there be any left over evidence of the light bar?

dont know in nsw but in vic they dont keep them for more than 40 or 50k (rules may have changed). these doesnt seem to be a lid for the cup holder which i think the cops take off probably for easy access to rest their coffees.

Mine's ex-Vic Police and when I bought it from my local WA Ford dealer, it still had traces of those reflective police stickers near the side sills.

Someone also told me you can read the car number on the roof on a misty night...Elmo's is car 2 0 5 still don't know what mine is....

If its a highway patrol car, they don't detain felons in the back.

LOL "felons", how American.

my car was an ex cop car. If you look in the engine bay there should be extra fuse box which i presume was for the lights and crap.

As per my car...

Driver's side A pillar holes, couple of mounting brackets top of glass behind rear vision mirror, marks on left a pillar from cable going to outside, could still have cut-outs in passenger door seal, inside of boot lid scuffed from the dills removing the signs in bootlid, extra holes and cables under bonnet, calibration sticker inside driver's door.

That said, $22k for the 6 speed turbo is good. The km is not really a major issue, just need to look for damage and abuse. A pre purchase inspection should catch that.

if it had a light bar remove the gromet at the top of the B pillar and check for any damage and check the firewall for any silicone around the where the clutch cable would go and maybe it might have an extra fuse block around the shocker tower

Krispy Kreme VIP sticker residue on the windshield

i wouldn't buy a chaser, they're thrashed, no matter how well it's been serviced. Not sure why people find it such a thrill to own one, but each to his own.

Dunno about NSW, but Vic cop cars are turned over at 60,000kms. Sometimes a little more, 3-5,000kms if new one isn't ready. I wouldn't buy one, some get babied, some get flogged. I wouldn't take the chance.

i bought a BF XR8 ex NSW cop car , 6spd auto holds up like new , the car drives like any other BF. Saved about 10 grand over retail cos it had 60k on the odo. Only downer is the car is due for front discs. All else checked out fine on the service report.

I had an AU 2 XR8 ex NSW HWP with 40k kms in it. It was an awesome car with nothing ever going wrong with it except needing new front rotors at 75,000kms.

The best way to find out is ask the dealer or check the service book.

they take out the cup holders these days to put in the light/siren switches, they have their own little console made up in vic. they just pull it out when they prep it and put it back in when they get rid of it. besides, the xr's don't get a lid on the cup holders these days unless they got premo interior.

Even if its a cop car, thats a pretty good buy.

However... I saw a white BF XR6 Turbo cop car booking someone. When the driver speed off they accelerated straight into the back of the cop car. You had to see it to beleive it. The copper just let them go on their way.

Someone is gonna buy that cop car with the crooked chasis for $22999 too. be careful, get 100 NRMA inspections on it.

I bought a cop car years ago. It went bloody awesome, V8 power. When i took it to get the kit repainted they could see under their special light it had been painted a few times in different areas, be careful with ex coppers, they thrash em.

i dont support the law on a lot of things but these comments are a bit unnessesary .any car can be thrashed . hire cars , cop cars , company cars ,hoons cars , just get it checked mechanically might just be the best car you ever own, as most will agree you cant pick a lemon .
