I was at my brothers place last night. He had an idea, he typically isnt good at ideas. But this one was one of the better ones. The first attempt of beer can chicken. So done over coals. It worked out very nice. Getting the coals going was negated by the time it took for preparing the chicken and shoving a beer can up its ****. The can was ⅓full of beer (⅔ was for me), a clove of garlic, some thyme and rosemary. The outside of the chook was done pretty standard issue, rubbed with s&p and some paprika. It came out the best of both worlds. Cooked through, roasted and moist with the infusion of what was in the can up the birds clacker.

I got a full day at work today.
Considering the Victorian lock down, I assumed I would be sent home after lunch. I made sure I kept busy, getting a few things done that were on the to-do-list, so I hopefully gave the company some value despite no customers to offset my wage.

Dressing my father in his shoes and socks this morning, bear in mind he mostly has the comprehension of a preschooler. Playing games counting his toes, and double-counting some of them to get twelve.
He laughs and says “That’s not right.” So I count again and get thirteen. More laughter. We’ve upped his dose of antidepressants and while it won’t make him smarter, he is definitely less unhappy. |

Trump acquitted. Again.
If he runs for the 2024 campaign, the next tactic they will use against him is assassination.

Talking to a neighbour today, he randomly says “You want a generator?”
I responded, what - a working one? Five minutes later I had an unused 2500W inverter generator on my porch. I’d loaned my old one indefinitely to a mate who generally “accumulates” so this is a step up, the last unit was a 2000W old style jobbie. |

Yes, my mate might be a good borrower, as you put it. But he generally ticks the boxes of mateship, so I don’t feel put out about an Aldi generator on extended loan.

10+ hour video chat with friends around the world today. We had people from USA, Canada, Finland, Germany, Sweden, UK, Belgium, Slovenia, Croatia and probably more places I've forgotten.
Since we can't meet up and travel together as usual, we started making this a monthly event. It's a 4am start time for me - and since I host, I have to be there to let people in, but it's always good fun.

I bought one of those small lithium jumper packs, the ones that fit in your glovebox. My old lead acid one never really lived up to its claims. But this lithium works heaps better. So my boats batteries are dead completely and even hooked up to a car, being this dead, its notoriously slow to turn. So battery selector set to battery 2, hooked up the jumper pack, it turned over perfectly. I wasnt starting it, its bone dry in the fuel department anyway, i just wanted to get the oil flowing inside the motor. Its a pretty big capacity engine for a 5.3m boat. Its a 4.3L v6, and it has 2 x 730cca deep cycle marine batteries, but this little 900a jump pack performed very well. I like it.

Finally sucked it up and pruned an azalea hedge I’d been too heartbroken to touch, last bloke butchered it eighteen months ago. Five and a half hours with hand shears and snips, all waste chopped up fine to fit easily in the green bin. Looks skeletal now but with this Sydney weather it will green up fast.

I already know you cannot run the motor for more then 30 seconds without the ear muffs and killing the water pump. The motor wasnt started, just turned over, and not for long. No harm in that. Ive owned it for 18 years.

Well despite taking fire from all directions I still managed to get a lot done though very difficult.
This Covid has certainly ****ed it all up though due to people not taking leave. It would normally be a bit quiet Jan and Feb so gives you a good bit of time to catch up with work but now we have plenty of people with **** for brains who have returned after Xmas ready to go. I really enjoyed my colleague giving every man and his dog both barrels today. Can't argue with facts |

If the pump housing and impeller are really dry the impeller can be stuck to the housing and first turn over will rip the fins off the impeller.Probably best you stick to joining wires together

I bought a new fuel filter for my car. 9 years ago. Snapped 2 open ended spanners trying to change it, so i gave up. Kept the filter though. Changed it yesterday. Well, i broke a rib last tuesday so my existence hurts, so with parts and tools supplied my brother did it for me. It took a bit longer then it should have as for lack of a less creative swear word it was a slut cat monkey **** of a thing to get the nuts to back off. So with the original fuel filter, the thing ran fine. 195k old. Tap it on the ground the amount of crap that came out was rather impressive. A new guy in it, its still never going to be a race car, but it is noticeable how much nicer it drives. The 1st 30 seconds on the 1st drive the car acted a bit odd trying to work out itself. The old filter had probably had gotten slightly more clogged up over a long time and the ecu in that time made minor adjustments to suit.
At 195k its 5k short of the run in period. Its only seen a mechanic for rego. Service history is non existant. Driveway oil changes and nothing has crapped out, yet. It might be a 13 year old car and a bit of a turd, but everything works in it, runs and drives good. |

While being given outrageous new prices for a couple of replacement steps for my Louisville diesel tanks I gave gumtree a quick look this morning, finding a guy selling a complete set of newish polished tanks, steps and mountings, locally. At 300 bucks I was around there in a flash to grab them.
Bonus is.....it will give me more storage capacity for the collection of vege oil for the homemade bio diesel now too.
