It was something along the lines of the rear passangers cant get out into traffic. But seriously, if you have 4 passengers, asking one to shimmy over in the back is a bit rude.

I’m intrigued by how much closet fandom there is for Shagnas. It’s approaching Teutophilia, at least on here.

Agreed! A 3.5 AWD VRX would have been an excellent buy back then.

The 3.5 Mitsubishi had the refinement of the Toyota's 3.0, but the grunt of the 3.8 Holden and 4.0 Ford engines. First Aussie made car with a 5-speed auto, first Aussie car with a manual shift mode as well.

And enough torque steer to throw you in the adjacent lane.

Oh, on the subject of Magnas, they have nearly been out of production longer than they were in production.

The awd we owned for 18 years was certainly sweet to drive and I still miss it, especially when it rains. But lifeless steering and barge-like turning circle really detracted from the experience.

There's a Melbourne business that replaces the Magnas 3.5 with the 3.8. It's a nice little power and torque boost. Was always tempted with ours but couldn't justify it. After 243000kms the damn thing must have been the only magna not to use oil. Must have been the twice yearly changes.

Away from my usual commuter routes, and saw ...

... A very sweet looking yellow vl turbo, with at least 10 years on the driver, and...
... a yellow lamborghini, inconspicuously tooling through a school zone at 40km hr.

In the last week-and-a-half, three Mark II Escorts, late last week a black 120Y fastback on red P’s, and today, in Trak Yellow with historic plates, a well-kept RENAULT 16.

1 of 3 VRX's in Wasp Yellow manual with sunroof

This was my Mum's car

impossible to keep in your lane in the wet .... gentle right foot needed.
Although the Bridgestone G-Grid II's were not a bad tyre at the time

Good fun in the dry though.
Was a nice car at the time compare to others on the road.

“Paddock find” XL sedan in white over Kurrajong Green, for sale in a paddock beside the Hume, south of Bowning IIRC.

Orange US spec early Falcon post two-door with reverse scoop, on a northbound car float south of Wodonga.

Yes there are 1,000 but only ~20% of E90 Corolla sales were sedans, so only 200 sedans left. Also, pretty sure that model I photographed is a 1989 not 1990.
