Not a big fan of the mechanical volume control dial in the middle of the screen but its not a deal breaker either.

If people didn't want more power then how would you explain such a large aftermarket tuning market?

I’m not much of a twin cab fan admittedly but even now as I’m beginning to plan to move into the segment in the next 4 years or so I’ll admit the only one I’m thinking of is the RAM.

We know that the Ranger sells a high proportion of high-end versions and hence higher profit. Hypothetical: Now lets say the XLT and Wildtrak come with a standard 157kW I4 diesel and optional 185kW V6 diesel and Raptor standard with 185kW V6 diesel and optional 245kW Petrol V6 turbo. If for XLT/Wildtrak the hi-po diesel is a $2500 option and for Raptor the petrol is a $2500 option how do you think powertrain model mix would go? |

There are plenty of potential duel cab buyers out there that aren’t sold on pure work horse powertrains, I don’t really tow much if at all, our Territory has had something bigger than a 6x4 trailer behind it once in the last 5 years.
While diesel is efficient it’s also as boring as it comes, even the 3L V6 diesel after watching reviews for F150 will likely be a great engine for those that use these things are work utes and tow vehicles all the time there are those of us out there that would enjoy something that a little more enjoyable, the 2.7L EB would be great for this while maintaining good economy. Im likely going to be looking for a Duel Cab 4x4 in about 12 months and an XLT level Ranger with EB would tick a lot of boxes for me while maintaining the ability to tow if required. |

From my own experience high Torque diesels keep them at low RPM where they should be.
This vastly improves the way they drive & feel, and I believe contributes to using less fuel.

You mean the vehicle that sells as many in one year, as the Ranger and Hilux sell in about 2 weeks?
I love how people keep pointing out how "popular" the Rams are, and they sell about 250-300 a month. A tiny fraction of what the smaller utes sell. Not that I disagree there is a market for bigger engined utes, just that people really need to put the numbers in perspective. |

Further context around those cars - it's a vehicle that's not offered in our market by the manufacturer, that's a reworked import with limited dealer network and support, that's still selling 250-300/month at pricing going well into six figures. How many you reckon they'd sell of RAM 1500 if they were $50K and factory RHD with bigger dealer network and support? Sure it's not big in the grand scheme of things, but either were MG and look where they sit on the monthly sales, selling a range that everyone else turned their back on because it 'wasn't worth it'. How many if those 250-300x month you reckon you'll take back off them if 2.7L EB was available in Ranger and priced around the $70K-$80K mark as a 'hero' model? Like Raptor but not off-road focus. Why concede market share when you could easily plug a gap? Last edited by Franco Cozzo; 28-07-2021 at 02:30 PM. |

I personally know of a 2019 Express crew cab (2nd lowest model) that a dealer I know sold new for $98k driveaway. They then recently traded it back in on something else. They sold it again last month (with 20000km on the clock from memory) for $115000. Talking to them, now the DT model is out, they are selling more of the $150k Limited models than the $120k Laramie models. |

I'm also a potential buyer eagerly waiting on the new Ranger. Not interested in a diesel, want petrol. Ideally a long stroke V8. Surely Ford could do something with the Coyote engine??

You wouldn't happen to work for PR at BMW would you? BMW think their customers don't want a 5 year warranty because they still sell cars. |

Here is what Ford should have built the Raptor to be in the 1st place.
It sounds Bad A$$. If people are willing to pay the big $$$ to have one converted then there is a market for it from factory. V8 Ranger Raptor 1st Test. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6TLN9r0mDI&t=571s

I’m on the more power camp but amarok sells more v6 as they sell only the core in a 4. I had a core 4 cylinder as a company car. Was quicker than the other utes. (Did the traffic light drags with mates. Can’t help ourselves) I’m looking at buying one next year before they change to a ranger twin. It will be the v6. [QUOTE=spyman03;6608326]And to the v6 yep they are testing it here and does it rock…..
Spyman, welcome back! Did the Ford press office wheel you out of retirement to drum up some hype around the new Ranger/Everest? Those sneaky FGX and Sprint shots from a few years back were legendary

Wow, this all reminds me of this thread -
https://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11379652 Great memories from the suspense waiting for the last Falcon. I guess the Ranger and Everest are the closest we get with this sort of thing in Australia these days.

Anyway I’ve been speed reading the thread so I can give you an image in your head as to the updated truck….
Everest is a heavy squared off car it has a new tail gate with the rear window glass is now flat across the back currant car the glass turns up at the ends The tail lights are like the focus car two L type lights on rear mutable lines in the Len and the boot lid lens has broken up lines along the lines of Audi atm They both have Led headlights now with the top spec utes having six beam adaptive beams lights their is 3 type of lens base utes being standard globes Mid utes get twin beam Rear lights are just an evaluation of the current car base tail lights have a led running light as an back to front 7 at the top and the high spec utes get an led running light the are two L’s across the top and outer sides then a small red dot then a L down side and across the bottom with a standard brake light at top with reverse light below Unlike the wheels pic the lens run down the outer side of headlight not across bottom Well you know now about the big screen the other upgrades is the roof lining has been redesigned basically recessed more into roof btw sunvisors The VW is basically T6 van/Touareg style front with a current amarok style tail light lens that being all red same style of L on the outer and a different interior. The question I have been asking is in how much Bronco DNA is coming to the Everest and if it will have 35's as a wheel option.
