Better to be in a GT copping the resale rather than in a e series wondering if the head gasket will make it to the next set of lights.............

It is. I paid ~50k for my XR8 and got $18k 3 years later as a trade. Thankfully for me though, depreciation is tax deductable and the shortfall between ~18%pa depreciation and what I sold it for is also a nice big fat tax deduction.

I'm not expecting my current R32 to depreciate quite as fast, particularly since they're no longer being made and it's miserly on fuel compared to the XR8 it replaced... but we'll see in 2.5 years. :(

Quite a nice dilemma to have, a missus that wants to buy a GT. You're a lucky man!

Heres one for ya... I have a Blue Pearl MK1 BA Fairmont Ghia. I wanted to get a model of a BA in Blue Pearl (of course ya can only get 1:18 GT-P's in that colour). I searched around the hobby shops etc and nearly paid $200 for on but for what ever reason i didnt... jumped on Ebay, found one... Brand new in box sealed in plastic still got it for $46 just proves that Car Prices are dead...

^^ Haha. Depreciation on new scale model cars. Doom & Gloom.

The white BA GT, blue stripes for $23,890 is crazy.

Mate how tempting it is to go the extra $5000 and get something we thought was well and truly out of our price range.

What did you wife end up getting?

She ended up getting a Suzuki sx4 ( alot better than the cruise at least). I gave up after a while. But at least i got a good deal on it . My Missus reasoning was she wanted a little 4wd and if it looked good she had to have it.

That's a shocker! Was that privately? I traded my September 2001 220kW AU2 XR8 in September 2003 on a GTP. I got $34K trade-in (which was $7K more than Thomson Ford and City Ford offered) and the GTP was $78K on the road. I paid $57K for the XR8 as I chose a fair few options. Learned my lesson there; best to buy the model which has the things you want as standard.

I doubt the depreciation would be as scary as the Ford, anyway Rod, Big Boys toys to be enjoyed, bugger the loss and enjoy the ride, those R32's are a bit of a ball tearer, nice quality vehicle.

What would be the formula be to work out a percentage of price that the car has dropped since it was released.

Seems that BF XR6 MKii have dropped like 45% in value

Well the wife and I went out looking today

We came across a few nice cars. Most BF XR6's seems to be going for around the 19 - 21,000 mark with k's around 40 - 50,000.

We came across a 06 BF XR6 4 speed auto with 38,000 for $17,990. I did not get to inspect the log books to see if it was a rental.

Nepean Motor Group, we looked at a 06 BFII with a 6 speed auto in shockwave 40,000 k's and that was $20,490. Salesman told us this had the special suspension, upgraded XR6 engine package, and premium sound (It had the smaller screen)

The same salesman tried to get us into a 05 Typhoon with 70,000 k's for $30,000. I also mentioned the BA GT in Vixen for 25,000 as shown in this thread, the salesman mentioned he sold one the old week for the same price. It's amazing what cars some salesman have had and the prices. He also had twins, after the wife mentioned we had twins. What nice guys.

Found a 06 BF XR8 for 22,990 with 70,000 on the clock in white. 03 XR8 with 78,000 in Vixen, sun roof, premium sound and momo wheel for $19,990.

We will be going out again next week, and do that just look, might try and nail a deal and see what we can get off the sticker price.

Cheers
Mark

Heres a '05 Typhoon . 68000ks for 27 grand

http://carsales.com.au/used-cars/pri...id=0&trecs=201

Actually , looking at the add again, its deceiving ! If you read further down he describes it as an XR6 Turbo !...but the title says FPV F6 Typhoon.

Nah it's just a XRT dolled up with a F6 front bar.

The side skirts and rear bar are stock XR, it's got povo brakes etc etc.

Therefore, it's just an overpriced XRT. False advertising.

So has anyone got a second hand price for the “other” large performance sedan - a Chrysler 300C SRT (6.1 litre) – I thought that their resale would be pretty bad but the ones that I’ve seen on line are all around $50-60k.

Surely they can be bought for lower?

Resale is governed by desirability, reliability and global influence.

If petrol was 1 cent per litre who would buy a Hyundai getz?

theres SRT's around for mid 40's...

Chryslers have never had great resale because they are one of those follower cars, if you dont like em, u wont buy one regardless of how cheap it is (aka JEEP).

With all the positive stories here I thought I'd go out and get a price to changeover to a new F6, just for a laugh... :togo:

Figured with a base FG GT out in the yard for $58K on road the difference may almost be bearable...

Well, seems that I was slightly mistaken!

Quoted high $76K for the FG F6 with leather and wheel options.

Was then offered $43K trade in for my July 07 Typhoon (22,000 Kms) - changeover price of $34K for a car less than 18months old!! This was from the same dealer I purchased from originally.

Told the salesman no thanks and headed home. Looked at the figures again and realised the $77K didn't include the sunroof, so it was another $2.5K to add to the loss...

Ah well, at least I don't like the FG shape - just the additional power/handling, so I guess I've got $33K to try and get the BF up to FG specs

Still can't believe they can expect to quote an F6 some $18K more than a GT - they are better (possibly biased!! : ) but not by that amount!

Knox mitsubishi has a BA MK2 XR8 with a sunroof for $18998, that seems reasonable.
