This is Camellia 'Margaret Davis'.

I absolutely love this variety of Camellia Japonica. The pink variation can change from plant to plant, some having more pink and others having more white. This particular plant was covered in blooms and a real beacon in the garden. My Grandma had one of these in her collection and when they are in flower, I am reminded of her and her garden.

Yellow Daffodil's against a brilliant blue sky. The season feels like it's about to turn.

Gardening is all in about planning and patience. For display like this, bulbs are planted in March and April. What looked like a shriveled onion turns into these bright and cheery Daffodils, a symbol of turning of Winter turning into Spring.

As you can tell by now, I love Camellia's.

This one called 'Tinsie' is in full flower in my garden at the moment. I like how it is just a bit different.

Hellebores or 'Winter Roses' are in flower right now. I love these plants for shady parts of the garden.

Chaenomeles or Flowering Quince.

These are very much considered a bit of a granny plant. We rarely have them stocked at the nursery due to low demand. Which is a bit of shame because these shrubs are very drought and frost hardy. The flowers appear in late winter before the foliage develops.

I suspect their relative lack of interest when not in flower and the fact they are deciduous accounts for their lack of popularity. Flowering Quince are best suited to a more eclectic garden where they will blend into the background when not in flower.

Speaking of thorns, I've lost count of the amount of times a customer has asked for "thorn-less" roses.

Some roses are considered thorn-less but even those will have a few. Thorns are the price you pay for such a beautiful flower.

Chaenomoles is a bit like daphne odora, it’s really unassuming for 11.5 months of the year, then they flower.
I love them as they are a long lasting hardy shrub, but are a hard sell if you are designing them into a landscape today “what do you mean it looses its leaves!?”

Bearded Iris that are flowering in one of my clients gardens at the moment. I really love these plants as they will tolerate pretty much all conditions and add a different foliage shape to the garden.

Today's task involved the huge job of potting the left over bar rooted trees into grow bags. We potted about 250 of these guys today, along with 200 from the last two days. Each year we pot roughly 600+ trees for sale throughout the year.

Each tree has it's roots trimmed, the branches shortened to compensate for the root disturbance before being placed into a bag and filled with potting mix. The trees are thoroughly soaked, allowed to settle for a few days before being priced and put into stock.

I'm now off to fall asleep in my chair................

Clivia miniata.

These are amazingly tough clumping plants that will tolerate dry conditions. They prefer a shaded spot in the garden which will protect them from hot summer sun and provide shelter from frost in winter.

I find it interesting that the colour of the seeds mirrors the colour of the flower, orange flowers means orange seeds, yellow flowers means yellow seeds.

Clivia are somewhat slow growing, with seed grown plants taking up to five years to flower. This explains why these plants are expensive to purchase in a nursery.

I have Clivia dotted under several established trees in this garden and really add some colour to a winter landscape.

Asparagus Fern or Asparagus aethiopicus 'Sprengeri'.

A pretty common houseplant, often in hanging baskets. I'm pretty sure it is considered to be a rather problematic weed.

Ta - I’d been sent the picture, which deceived me with its branchlets. Mostly it seems to be clumpy around here, on a fibrous root crown. Love nuking it with the glyphosate!

Getting ready to clean up more with spring in the air !

I love these above, clippings passed onto me some months ago.

I love these ferns- hardy.

Can’t beat that eh, camellia in full bloom, got a few like this specimen.

Can’t remember what this is called but it looks nice, think it has a white flower haha

It’s doing well, all ripe now since the pic taken

Loropetalum 'China Pink' putting on a pretty big show in my garden at the moment.

I love these plants. They grow to about 1.5 to 2 metres in height but can be trimmed to suit. The main time for flowering is late winter and early spring, however Loropetalum will spot flower throughout the year. Rich, deep burgundy new growth appears after flowering, providing foliage colour and contrast to the garden. These plants will grow in full sun to part shade and will tolerate dry conditions.

A popular plant that is well worth a look.

Looks like an Albany wooly bush, Adenanthos. Cool texture plant thats as tough as they get.

Jealous of all your camelias guys. They're not suited to the lime sands of Perth but I'm heading to the Margaret river region next week and theres alot of mature specimens down there to envy.
