1971 Mercedes-Benz 300SEL 6.8 AMG to go with my 71' 300SEL 6.3...309kW 285km/h, 0-100 in 4.6...the ultimate 4 door sedan of its era.

I like RPO's choice.

I would get a 2nd Hand BF Fairmont Ghia V8 (<$30,000). An Austin Healey 3000 for the weekends (~$60,000) and $10k in hand.

If I could get one. A Merc Pullman so I could pretend to be a third world dictator.

100K is not enough. Certainly would not buy a new Ford anything.

Since I'm being realistic in choosing a vehicle I would buy for myself with that money, I'll figure in the NSW P-Plate laws which I'd be obliged to follow, those being... No Forced Induction (Turbo-Diesel 4 cyl, 5 cyl and 6 cyl cars exempt), Nothing with 8-cylinder or More, No Rotaries and No Six-Cylinder factory car with 200kW power or more.

In that light I would buy (and probably even if I wasn't restricted)...

Alfa Romeo Brera JTS 3.2 V6, $87,990 RRP

It's got a 3.2litre DOHC 32-valve V6 (small-version of the Commo's 3.6) with 191kW @ 6300rpm and 322Nm @ 4500rpm, 18 x 8" alloys with 235/45 R18 tyres, AWD (43% front, 57% rear), capable of 0-100km/h in 6.8 seconds and a top speed of 240km/h. It hasn't got stupid, void-of-feel, drive-by-wire electro-mechanical steering nor pedals, its all old fashioned. It is stunning to look at and even better to sit in (which I've done).

Mine would be red with black leather inside, and $100k will buy it with on-roads and an option or two comfortably. Beautiful car.

Enough said.
You do realise that they're worth $160K a pop don't you?

Personally i'd be buying the original B5 RS4 (wagon) for $80K and going bananas with the remaining $20K. Or i'd get the Audi and wait 3 years and buy a low milage 2006 BF XR8 for $20K. Gotta love the resale of these Aussie cars
