Hi Matt,

This has been a really informative thread - Thanks for all the good advice

I'm looking to replace the rotors and pads on my FG F6 probably within the next 5,000-8,000km's and would like to ask a quick question. I have the 6/4 brembo set-up so I believe the rotors are 355mm/330mm.

I was thinking about using slotted T3's and was undecided about the pads. I am after a pad with lower dust than the OEM pads, reasonable life-span and which bite hard from the get-go.

Would the project MU NS pads all around be my best option? Any idea of the kit price posted to 6007, Perth - WA

Thanks Matt. Appreciate your time.

Hi Matt

I'm looking to upgrade my pads and rotors to the front and rear of my BA XR6 sedan. At the moment I just have the stock pads and rotors but want to be able to fix the new pads and rotors as replacements without having to alter or buy extra brackets to fix them in. Rarely sees any track time just general speedy driving. What would you suggest?

Cheers
Lachlan

Thankyou. The DBA T3 rotors would be my choice for sure and the PMU pads would be close to what you want although it is hard to get that perfect pad. The Hawk performance ceramic pads are better for low dust and low rotor wear but on both pads your request for " bite hard from get-go" is comprimised a little as we have found any pad that is low dust low rotor wearing will lose a little initial bite.
We could supply and send 4 rotors and 2 sets of pads for the 6/4 combo for about $1650. We may be able to reduce the cost a little if we can send from the WA warehouse.

Lachlan we can do this with DBA T3 slotted rotors and DS Performance pads and you qill stop far better and this will cost about $900 but we can also go to the DBA T2 slotted rotors and Bremb brand pads for about $560 so there are some affordable packages there. Freight is extra.

Hi Matt,

Thanks for the fast response. I really need that initial pad bite as I live next to a school, right next to a main road, and only a couple of minutes from the freeway. I just don't have the time for them to warm up before they bite...

I guess I'll have to live with a bit of dust - Hard biting pads are more important...

Do the T3's and PMU pads have similar life to OEM Brembo pads/rotors if driven the same way?

I'll be in touch again soon when I need to purchase the kit.

Thanks!

The lifespan on pad and rotor combinations differ and you can't say how long they last but the wear rate is pretty good.
You mentioned you didn't want to wait for the pads to warm before they bit which i can undersatnd but "initial bite" and warming up pads is different as they generally have different material compositions in them. High initial bite pads will generally dust up and wear the rotors harder but just because a pad doesn't have high initial bite it doesn't mean it has to warm up to work well. The Brembo aftermarket pads are close to what you want but are yet to make a pad in your shape so keep in touch as it may be soon.

The TE50 i thought had atleast the twin piston 330mm kit with a grey caliper but are you saying you have bog stock 287mm front discs?

Hi Matt

You are correct twin piston 330 kit with the grey caliper, I was under the impression the premium brakes had the tickford logo on the caliper?

I thought that (logo) as well but have seen some grey calipers with 330mm rotors that haven't had it.
I reckon you will pay around $950 delivered to perth for the front and rear T3 slotted rotors and Remsa brake pads.

No T2's made sorry and they have no T3 stock either. The only DBA rotor is a DBA 4000 with the factory eliptical slot for the same price as the T3.
RDA is the only other option

Hi Matthew,
I would just like to say a very BIG thank you for your fantastic customer service and expert advice in helping me with the upgrade of my BA xr8 ute brakes to 325mm fronts/328mm rears. All the rotors/calipers/pads/seal kits /braided lines were EXTREMLEY good prices and all turned up today in Brisbane. The gloss black powder coating on the calipers looks great and is an excellent job.Thank you for taking the time to explain the pros and cons of the questions I asked.I was very impressed by your expertise on the calipers/rotors/pads for my ute and how I drive it.
I will recommend you to anybody, so if anyone needs anything to do with brakes, please give Matthew a ring at RACE BRAKES SYDNEY.Thanks again Dave/Xringer.

Hi Matt

I had checked the front disc as I was the same opinion that the TE,s had the larger discs but to my surprise I have the bog stock which is very disappointing as I was not too happy about the braking on my car,now I know why.
My apologies for stuffing you around,
I might have to re think options as I still have some wear left on pads and rotors

Cheers

Hi Matt

Chasing some DBA T2 slotted rotors to suit std BFII wagon front and rear, also pads to suit options please.

We carry a bit of weight as the norm and tow quite frequently if that's makes any difference.

Any advantage of braided lines to a std setup?

Postage to 3804 please.

Regards
Mick

Hi Mick we can supply the DBA T2 slotted and some Brembo brake pads that are very good and low dust with freight to 3804 for $620 or if you would like the Remsa pads we have on special then we can do this for $560 delivered thanks mate. Braided lines are better than rubber for sure as they do not flex or split like rubber ones and will cost you $280 a set extra thanks for all 4.

Hey mate, after a quote on two bottles of ap racing 5.1 brake fluid shipped to 2611.

Does it come in any bigger quantities?

Also I've had half a bottle sitting around for 12 months, would it be any good?

Cheers.

$55.00 delivered only 500ml but cheaper by the case lol. The fluid may be ok if it had the lid on tight and stored in a dry area.

Just confirming it is a BF XR6 non turbo with std rear brakes as the rear pad number you have listed is for the larger rear vented disc but the rotor number is the std size .
To supply the above items with freight is $880 or if you wanted Ferodo DS performance front pads and Ferodo Formula rears which are both equivalent if not better than the Ultimates it would be $870. Fitting price we charge would be $240 so around that price but i have no one locally and really any decent mechanic can do this job.

Yeah it was to replace the standard BA XR6 system with the slotted rotors and performance pads. Do you also sell the brembo caliper covers or should i source them elsewhere? How much extra is the freight to braemar NSW?
