Needs improvement. But you gotta remember the original Top gear in the UK had been around for around 30 yrs and Clarkson had been doing it for over 10 years.
The tests were a bit thin on detail, said absolutely nothing about the Porsche really and did they even drive the Maybach, they didnt even come to a conclusion of whether the cars were any good. The middle young dude, what is it Steve, annoyed the hell out of me, he sounded like a hypo 15 year techno geek, who needed to narrate everything. The other two what is it "Sharks as big as a Fairlane" warren and cox charlieare better. Hopefully they chill out a bit and remember it is a car show not a comedy variety show, though the whole season has already been done and it probably me more of the same.

If you had never seen the British version, then this would have been good viewing. However this was too much a pure copy and showed no originality. I think the only difference that will ever be between the 2 versions is in the Australian version will have Australian cars.

Big Mistake turning Top gear into an Australian Version i have a feeling when top gear to come back on in the UK , they will bagging our version so hard

Yeah, didn't blow wind up the skirt and the saddest part is it looks like SBS has canned the original top gear in favour of the Oz version. An absolute shame though that they copied the set, that old bomb on the plinth where the Hilux sits in the UK version confirms their desire to copy the UK on everything. Oh well, back to watching drug dealers on channel 7's border patrol for me.

I'm curious about the imitation of the U.K show comments, is it not a franchise of sorts meaning it should be quite similar ?

Sure it wasn't the greatest Top Gear.... but I run it. Plus I can't wait until next week to see the Ford vs Holden show.

not bad for an aussie debut.
loved the sand dunes near stockton. some of the jokes were a bit sleep: but what do you expect. The first three episodes of uk top gear suckd.... the track needs to be alot better though. as comparing it to the car show, even ANDRA TV is better than that crap on saturdays!! give it time they'll grow on us.

Agree with the presenters being a bit too try hard. I was a bit "eh" for the first 30mins but I think the 2nd part of the soft roaders saved them. It was probably the most funniest part of todays episode. Good luck to them, I think they'll be right.

For their first episode I thought they did ok, although coming from watching the british version it did leave a bad impression.
But hopefully after a few episodes it will improve, and with FORD vs Holden next week the future looks bright. |

If you got rid of the presenters, added more local content and ditched the copy cat uk theme you'd have a top show.

The only reason an Australian one would be worth watching is for the Holdens and Fords. Everything else is sold in Europe so we may as well watch the original after next week.

good show, but the type casting was a bit silly... Cox as clarkson (flappy paddle gear box!), Steve as Hammond and warren as May, it stood out to clear, they shouldn't of done that. Other then that it worked well, most australian motoring shows are boring grandpar spec, im glad they arn't talking about beaded seat covers or what aftermarket parking sensor offers the most value for money.
They are testing cars available in australia balls out. And thats what top gear is, balls out. One thing i found was that there was very little acutal talk about the cars, Top gear talks about the car a bit more. But its too early to talk about how good a series is. Next week Red v's blue, with burnouts. Thats good, and glad they didn't open with that. ...also seen a EA falcon getting trashed in the previews, lol. Hopefully there will be a test to see what is the cheapest second hand car you can buy to go across Australia, and be able to fix it on the road side.

While it's no where near as good as the UK Top Gear, I gotta say that TGA is the best car-show in Australian TV as of today. I think it's got potential. I want TGA to be successful enough to have challanges with the TG UK (and maybe TG US).

I've never watched the UK version, but I thought this was rather good, besides the rather crappy jokes. I can't wait for next monday with the Ford vs Holden episode, all my mates at school are Holden supporters, so hopefully this goes in Ford's favor.

I think they need to work on the camera angles a whole lot more. Didn't get to see much of the Test track at all which was very dissapointing. I Wonder who the Stig is?

If it didnt have the 'Top Gear' set I would be surprised. It si Top Gear? Not bad for the first and clever to put the Ford vs Holden on second show .... guaranteed audience for at least two weeks straight.
Didnt like the test track ..... at all! Made the runs look very boring and only ran for 15 seconds ish. And a Proton? Was expecting a Corolla or something a bit more mainstream. That segment on the sharks was just bad and pointless. Would have cost a packet to set that up. | [/url] |

Give me back the hour that CRAP took from my life. What a waste of time.....
We started off with 22 blokes in the TV room off shore and ended up with 7, all waiting to see if it got better, sadly it went further downhill. |
