Never driven an Isuzu ute. Haven't really had much to do with the Colorado except me boss has one. He seems happy. I agree with the Isuzu light trucks being gutless when fully loaded but they'll still do the job. Performance was unloaded or with a light load they ain't so bad. Then again they can carry more then a one- tonne ute. If the Isuzu ute has the same motors as the trucks. It shouldn't suffer in terms of performance under load. If anything it would be better, just hope they would be geared better for use in a ute

They don't sound all that bad. Obviously not the best in its class but sounds like a good work ute. I'd have to drive one before I'd buy one thou

Wouldn't surprise me if they were to be honest. In terms of reliability with the Isuzu trucks I've driven. I've never had to try and fix something on the side of the road or have been let down by one. Only issue I had was air con died in a truck on a boiling hot day in peak hour traffic along Milton road in Brisbane. I hated that truck that day lol

Oh god!!! Used to hear that about the 308!!! Lol, used to stir a mate of mine with a 308 powered HQ tonner. Everytime something went wrong with it, I'd tease "forever late with a 308". Wouldn't of been a bad ute if it was looked after

Luckily they were so simple you could work on them with nothing more than a long fingernail and a used hanky.

Isuzu give their 3.0td engine a B10 rating which means 90% of engines will get to 500,000 k's before a rebuild, obviously if serviced correctly.
And on the subject of diesel engines performance and reliabilty, I work for a company that has Isuzu, Fuso and Hino and the Isuzu's are miles ahead for performance and reliability compared to the others, only problems we have had with the new ones have been with the regeneration of the diesel particle filters.

Drive them all and see which one you like. I don't really think you can go very wrong with most of them.

Its all very good to quote technical specs because that's all you've got to offer or say your mates uncle prefers the Great Wall but world experience is what matters. Like I posted before my D Max tows heavy loads, does the farm pickups and wanders through some rough, muddy paddocks and does it all easily. On the open road it trundles along comfortably for a ute and I've often left far more exotic cars in the garage when I have had to go to Sydney or the Central Coast because the D Max is good in the urban traffic too. Its never seen inside a dealership for servicing, never given any trouble in its 50,000 km and goes very well. OK it doesn't go like a drag car but my XR6T won't carry 5 bales of Lucerne either.
These are all pretty good utes and I chose mine because 25 years as a mechanic told me it was the best for my needs.

I would still check out the Colorado, I have a feeling it will have better highway gearing being a 6 speed. Ugliest ute in history but that will probably mean a couple of grand saving over the Isuzu.

If you go the Isuzu bear in mind a facelifted version has been released in Thailand and will probably be here shortly - use it to bargain.

I'd take a Colorado over a BT50 or Triton in the looks department.

If by facelifted you mean the 2.5 TT version I'd take that. 70nm more torque and even better fuel specifics than the current 3.0

It's not all about peak torque. It's the area under the curve.
