The raptor did an unofficial time of 9min 48sec driven by Tanner Foust and the raptor was limited to 100mph.

Considering the only 'utes' in the world are the Falcon ute and Commodore ute its not that hard to be the fastest ute in the world round the ring. Sure you can add Yank trucks to that category if you want but ute is an Aussie thing and is a truck version of an existing car, something an F-Truck is not. Good bit of publicity but a proper race car driver instead of a businessman would have been smarter.

UTE = Vehicles featuring a coupe passenger compartment with an attached cargo bed. All-steel-bodied utility vehicles, more commonly called utes, were invented in Australia. HATCHBACK = A hatchback is a type of car which has both a sloped back and a rear door that swings upwards when opened. Begs question why are the Megane and Holden Ute being compared together. |

If GM was going for the fastest ute title, as Joshua Dowling is suggesting, why didn't they use the SV enhanced Maloo R8? You know, the top of the range Holden ute offering? It has more power and bigger brakes that should make it quicker on track than the SSV Redline.
I also agree with others that at least Holden took a car there and tested it. I'd love to see some FPVs on that track. |

HSV are basically just a subsidiary to Holden, same as Holden is to GM. No reason Holden couldn't have taken a Maloo.

Stock SS sedan or wagon vs SS ute what is the big diference when driving them ? bugger all. compared to a F1 they maybe blunt. but horses for ? FJ ute vs the VF SS ute now that is very sharp tool we have today. Bit big and heavy for a racing car but that's not what they are made for is it. |

What does the 'F' stand for in FPV or FTE? What does the 'H' stand for in HSV or HDT?

It's really a great achievement to get a record in a category where there are no other competitors, and you're the winner by default. Bravo Holden.

They had a few million of tax payers money in the back to help keep the tail down. Later they destroyed the money with the car. Laughed hysterically and flew first class back to Australia. They threw the remaining Euro currency they had in their pockets, also tax payers, into the nearest bin at the airport, before driving to Parliament house to pickup some more of that sweet tax payer cash.
Oh yeah. They have plenty of tax payer cash. You had better believe it bro. |

Exactly what point are you attempting to make? Stock SS sedan, wagon, and ute, indeed, there's bugger all difference, they're all blunt. On a tack. They are big and heavy. And they aren't made for racing. But that didn't stop Hollden taking one to the 'Ring did it? The Meganne isn't made for the track. It's a hot road hatch pitched at the likes of Audi S3, WRX, etc. All road cars last time I checked. All quicker than an SS ute around a track. Shock horror! My point, as you have obviously missed it (Doh!) is that the Meganne factually runs circles (or in this case, rings) around a blunt Holden SS, and Josh stoopid Dowelling should have thought that fact as being no surprise at all.

I don't disagree that there should be no surprise that the Renault Megane Trophy car is quicker on the track than the VF SS Redline ute, but since when was 0.55 of a second per kilometre 'running circles' around something? That's like beating someone over the 1/4 mile by 0.2 of a second and saying you 'ran circles' around them.
