Don't mean to sound like a naysayer but I can see this ending in tears. FG doors on a BF would have to be engineered and certified, then there would be a myriad of issues with fitment and sealing etc etc. Remember, an alteration like this would cost Ford tens of millions of dollars, it's no easy feat. Best of luck with it anyway.

The difficulty was working out if it would look good enough with BF doors being remoulded to match the front clip, but the belt line would be wrong. What we've decided on doing instead is making the FG doors fit with the higher belt line. This also means the little opera window is going to need to kidney shaped to match the rear FG door. Not sure how it would look so it may be deleted. That said, the modification required to the C pillar and the quarter will be substantial and we are hoping to have the car registered, but these major structural mods may prohibit how much we're able to do from a legal perspective. That said, Paul has invited me around to watch an episode of Boyd Coddingtons American Hotrod for an example of what's possible with sheet metal. Too many distractions and too many possibilities.

So much so, I've printed it off and have shown a couple of friends who think it looks awesome.

Why not buy an Fg G6E and take it to a limosuine builder and get them to stretch the car 20-30cm. Instant G6E Fairlane. And all the front end will still work as it should. Extend, fuel lines, some wiring to the boot, tailshaft, new headlining, modify rear door trims and longer floor carpet. Done?

That would just look like a 760li bmw. A longer boot and squarer c pillars with rear quater glass is kind of the fairlane style

Looks like Op was last active in 2016 so it seems he may have moved on.
I hope he didn't end up cutting up what sounded like a clean Fairlane, only to be overwhelmed by the scope of work required to deliver the desired result. Did anyone ever hear what eventuated? |

Slightly o/t, I was hoping some genuine internal drawings, renders etc of the FG wagon etc might have made public once production closed. I don't think they even looked at a Fairlane when work started on FG.

No, they didnt as there was no long wheel base. But doesnt hurt to dream eh. Someone will build one, as they did 2 door XE's, EB's, AU's, BA's and that FG. I too would love to see a wagon, maybe with a Jag rear end or even a Mazda 6 rear.

You only have to look at the Chinese Ford Taurus...
That would have been our FGX Fairlane https://www.caradvice.com.au/349133/...urus-revealed/ |

But it wouldnt be a long wheel base car, which is what a Fairlane/LTD always has been. Our platforms were so versatile, with the wagon variant that allowed that formula to work.
I prefer to play with the FG and see what if... : )
