When I cashed out before the big crash a few years ago I left a little in. I looked today at my portfolio the first time in 2 years. Nice to see a 1500% rise since the crash. Lots of people buying in right now, it’s only a matter of time before it levels out again.

My sister knows I'm into crypto and she asked me around August last year if she should buy in. Bitcoin had just gone from around AUD$13k to AUD$17k so I said who knows but if it was me I would wait for it to correct. She reminded me of that this arvo when it went over AUD$82k. I reminded her I said I would wait but I also have no ****ing idea, and reminded her to never listen to anyone in crypto, even moreso those that think they have some idea.

If you look at the trend of it though, just like shares, you hold and you generally won't lose out. I won't discuss what i've now got left but in the crash it was in the 100's of dollars, 3 years later its risen 1500%, it's a crazy game that's for sure.

Yeah this is getting silly now.
Got triple my initial investment out in December 2017, which was not a huge amount, but it felt good to know I cannot lose and what i had left in was just play money that cost me nothing, and was not really a lot of money after the January 2018 crash. But that play money that meant nothing to me has now turned into a fairly significant sum. I mean it is still free money, but is now an amount that it would suck to see most of it evaporate in the next crash, even though it cost me nothing at all...but so hard to pull anything out when you keep waking up to 10% and 20% gains. I know I should at least sell some of it, but that is hard to do when you are also fighting the urge actually put more fiat into it (which I have never done other than my very first amount that I then withdrew long ago)...plus I haven't had a taxi/uber driver or workmate try talking to me about crypto (which was my sell signal that saw me get out just before the previous crash). Weird how quickly it can go from who gives a **** money to ****-off money. EDIT: **** it, put in some sell orders for very small part of my stack for just a little bit higher than current...so crash in 3, 2, 1... Right now as I type this, what Laszlo spent on 2 large pizzas in 2010 is now worth AUD$845,145,000...nearly a billion dollars for 2 large pizzas. Last edited by Mulva; 14-04-2021 at 05:06 PM. |

a lot of people work of USD rates, the USD markets are much bigger (more liquid).

No way I could have held from $1 to $18k without selling (or held from $1 to $84k); would have sold the moment it had gone to life-changing money. Not a bad thing of course as would still have walked away with life-changing money, just my island would have been smaller than if I had hodl'ed. Thought about getting in back in 2012...didn't enter until 2016 |

Further to the above, I would hate for these success stories to influence someone into jumping in now with money they can't afford to lose.
Market could correct at any moment, or the bull could still yet run for weeks or months - I certainly don't know, all I do know is every day and every increase is bringing us closer to the next correction which will happen at some point. And what I also know is I don't know **** - so make of that what you will. Those that are in, what bags are you holding now, and what have been your best/worst performing. Obviously made some gains from BTC and ETH, but my biggest wins have been Link, BNB and recently XRP. Very small handful of DOGE from 2016 purchased as a joke too has given big percentage gain but not that much in terms of $ as was literally about $5 worth back then. Worst performing is Nano - which was one of my best performing back when it was Raiblocks, but then that Italian guy "suffered a stolen" and the rest is history. |

The doge isnt stopping, its now 5th biggest coin by market cap.
Would be funny if doge ends up winning over some more of the big ones, and the myriad of ****coins that every man and his dog has created. I hold none, shouldve been smarter when musk tweeted about it. Last edited by GasoLane; 19-04-2021 at 08:31 PM. |

Much wow.
I think you’ll need to school the ‘saurus back to Doge meme days. |

I actually got around to officially closing my dormant account the other week after getting a bit of junk updates. Big ups for BTC Markets support for not trying to drag it out and keep me around.
No BS. So if I want to go with crypto in the future I will go back to them I reckon. |

OMG it has taken the banks long enough to work out that this is a good move.
Crypto is not going to go away. They are actually more set up for it than they think, and will profit from transaction fees ect.

I was reading today that many of the top billionaires this year all started crypto buy / sell platforms...
