Made it through another day of work dealing with people that make common house bricks appear to be scientific scholars, now have two days off.

When i went up the shop this morning i saw a bloke and his old man inspecting an au xr6 that a guy up the road owns. The guy up the road is a tinkerer. He buys unregoed cars does what needs to be done to get rego and offloads them. Nothing is pretty so things arent restored but they are roadworthy. Anyrate, when i come back the bloke and the old bloke are trying to jumpstart the xr6 and their car was is a bit of a precarious spot so i slowed to go around and got a sorry mate. I pulled up because you will have a hard time jumping an au off a holden combo van thingy. So i offered to give it a go off my ute. In the end the au wouldnt start, but these blokes appreciated the time and the fact someone offered to help. Nothing more then a hand shake for the effort but it doesnt take alot to atleast offer a hand to your fellow man.

Been sick in bed for the last two days feeling like I was going to die.
This arvo got up and went for a walk outside starting to feel better. Now its raining, and my water tanks are filling up, so not bad at all.

Glad you're feeling better AND glad it's raining ..How cool is that !!!!!.. Today I got my new gate hung (and I didn't bugger it up for a change ) , then the power went out at about 4 pm.. Early this week I bought a cheap metal detector for the princely sum of $89 and free postage on EBAY so while waiting for the power to come back on I got it out of the box and poked around in the back yard ..Really basic compared to my old one that I lent once and never got back..It was getting dark , still no power but then it started beeping .. Dug down a few cm's and the detector was still screaming so i kept going with a torch about to be sourced although the power was back on by then ..I then found the item ..It was a long lost folding fishing knife that i had many moons ago . The handle was intact and once I washed it off it was in pretty good order considering it had probably been there at least 20 years or so . No prizes for guessing what I might be doing next weekend as I find countless bottle tops , valueless coins , tin cans etc ...Too feel good things , a new gate and fun with a new toy.. |

I had the good fortune of going to bend today and watch the car racing and to top it all I was able to go onto the grid and look at the cars close up. Although it wasn't Fords day to day it was still damn good.

Out in the XR8 this morning I had a beautiful red ED XR8 pull up beside me at a set of lights. I tuned and gave the driver a big thumbs up and smile. We then both then took off, V8's gently growling.
Two XR8's, twenty years apart, out for a cruise on a beautiful Sunday morning.

Maybe not so much what made me feel good today, but more maybe a sigh of releif. Yeah my work car needs a wash but it rained last weekend. But the interior is clean. I dusted and sprayed the thing on friday, its a pleasant place to be. Today i was working across the road from works office and needed a 12ft ladder. So to save time i walked over. My hope was none of the 3 spare cars had a 12 foot on them so id either chuck one on the hilux or my old van. Both those cars are not clean per say but habitable. But no. My manager chucks me the keys to the other van which has a ladder on the roof. Its absolutely putrid inside. Windows down it didnt help. There is not a single surface without a food stain. And the smell. I left it over the road for my manager to take back, i had trouble stomaching the thing. My ute was like bliss to be in after that. No stench, no sticky steering wheel, no stains.

Put my back out moving a pull-out sofa with my gf's grandfather on Monday night. I probably over-exerted myself because I didn't want him to have much weight on his end due to his age.
Still have been going to work and putting in a good effort. I've found that my back mainly hurts/locks up when I stop but it's mostly okay if I keep moving all day, so I've been working pretty hard to take my mind off of it. Apparently it worked out okay because I've been told I'm doing a good job. Basically turned a bad situation into something positive. Which is ok. Hopefully the backpain goes soon. |

Got called into the office today for a meeting with the boss and i got a pay rise out of it. Nothing massive like the last time i made demands but it will be noticed. And i have 6 weeks worth of rdos that will be paid out and thats a fair chunk of change coming my way. Then work took us all out to a proper flight simulator. There was a proper cockpit of a f18 and a proper cockpit of a boing 737. I went with the 737 and it was a really good time. The guys who run the place train proper pilots and use these simulator for training purposes. I wouldnt say flying a 737 is particularly easy, but it was a good time none the less.

Cashing in my lotto scratchies... And spending my small win on a few new stuffed toys for my dog.
The look in her puppy dog eyes and wagging tail was worth more to me than putting the money in my wallet. |

Seeing the smile on my mates 11 year old grand son after going for a drive in my XR Fairmont..
I did give it a bit of a squirt and he loved it.. He lost his mum not that long a go, so to see that smile was cool.. This is my old girl.. https://fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11460352 |
