If it was AWD with decent suspension I would buy one, no problems at all. Even if it wasnt as quick down the straight as the big boys, just think about the handling and braking...... It would be a blardy nice car.

230kW 380? That's cool idea. I hope they do it. XR6 Turbo competitor?

I still think 200kw is the limit for a FWD chassis which is what the supercharged 380 will be. 230 is too much for FWD and not enough to be competitive with the XR6T IMO. (especially when you look at the aftermarket tuning options.)
From what I understand the car isn't intercooled hence it could make more power with an intercooler so that would be your first mod, though why mitsu chose to go supercharger instead of turbo has me puzzled - if they want the young crowd it is all about turbos, not to mention turbos are easier and cheaper to mod and in (once again in my opinion) far superior to a supercharger set up. Although on the plus side it could make a good competitor to the Liberty GT and no doubt undercut it on price.

From personal experience with Mitsubishi, I would never have another. But big power on a front wheel drive is a little hairy. I wouldn't like to feed it too much fat through a corner.

Let's face it, the Neville Nerds of the car buying public who want a family sized car, generally don't know FWD from RWD. and buy Toyotas.
Enthusiasts who want a car with a bit of grunt won't go near a FWD. Mitsubishi Australia can't compete with Toyotas advertising budget so they should forget large FWD family cars and concentrate on the small car segment (Lancer, Colt etc.). |

I kept pace with an AWD Magna on some twisties. That thing was struggling for grip big time. Were talking normal cardigan driving in the wet. Isn't their AWD system supposebly meant to derived from the EVO too? Might have been just my experience but the guy was wandering into my lane quite a bit. |

for says the falcon weighs 1694 (xt) so 1635KG and 230KW gives you 7.1kg per 1kw and 1694kg and 245KW gives you 6.9kg per 1 wk very close would all come down to traction. |

1715kg manual, 1745kg auto. That's 142.85kW/tonne manual and 140.40kW/tonne auto. Compared to 140.67kW/tonne for the Supercharged 380.

If its $50-$60k then forget it. That puts it out of XR6 Turbo price range, and in the price range of the XR8 and F6 Typhoon. And well... no contest.

Apparently initial plan is to build 50 - 20 supercharged, the rest without. I'd say at least 10, if not more of the original 50 cars will hit the MMAL exec fleet. They have a cost issues that they need to sort out - one apparently was issues with Sprintex wanting to fit the supercharges in Perth, another is the use of Evo9 interior parts (seats etc). |

Pricing would need to be in the mid 40s to be competitive with the SS and XR6T.

$50K - $60K forget it. Would have to be $45K to be competitive. Also regarding weight a manual XR6T is 1685kg vs 1635 for a VRX. Add the supercharger, piping, ect. ect. and weight will be the same if not more than the Falcon.

So I don't know how an XR6 Turbo... the same car with bigger brakes, an intercooler, a turbocharger etc etc is supposed to weigh less then an XT? Even going by BA weighs that was impossible... XT - 1672kg, XR6 N/A - 1688kg.
